All of my winter sowing containers are buried under 2 feet of snow. Should I dig them out or just let the snow melt (more snow coming Monday and high temp are forecasted to be only in the low 30's)
WS containers buried in snow ... dig out or leave buried??
I leave mine. The snow insulates them.
Thanks! good point ... besides, I didn't really want to walk thru 2 feet of snow to shovel them out.
When in doubt, choose the path of less resistance.
Leave 'em. They'll be fine.
mine are all snowed in and protected too.
Snow is good for WS jugs!
It's part of the process.Let it be.Edge
Remember you're pretty much mimicking what happens naturally in nature. Seeds fall from plants in late summer/early fall, get buried by leaves and/or snow in late fall/early winter, then stay there until they "wake up" in the spring.
Ditto stephanietx.... I look at ws as doing just like mother nature except we confine and make it easier on us to then put them were we want. Plus we don't have to worry about when cleaning up the garden in early spring pulling something to then find out later it wasn't a weed...... as me how I know this last part so well...teeee heeee

Thanks for the advice everyone ... we're expecting another 12-18 inches of snow on top of the piles we have left over from the last storm. Can't wait for SPRING!!!
I am so with you on the wanting spring to hurry up and get here.
I just went in my kitchen and I can hear water dripping in my gas fire place and DH just went in the bathroom and in the closet the towels are all wet.
Help Mr.Wizard......
