Your gonna love it and be just as addicted to it all as the rest of us LOL

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Hey Kids....hehehehe
we are about 4 wks. away from the RU and instead of making a whole new thread to search after I figure we can continue to go from this one for the food

I will go and edit the top so we can add in what is bring brought unless y'all choose to make it a bring your own sandwich

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

We are coming the day before, so I need something that can be cooked ahead and not refrigerated. How about cookies or brownies? Or paper goods?

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

I will bring all the paper goods, plates, napkins and forks pbtx, if that is okay, I already bought a stockpile of them....I am getting excited!

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Let me get pas the huge MG plant sale coming up this Saturday April 24. This will be by far the largest we have had. The variety of plants we will have to offer will blow your skirt up. : )
After Saturday, I will begin to think and post my list of what I can do.
DD

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

pbtx cookies brownies would be fine for you to bring ..whatever your lil heart desires

also for those newbies coming ....Loves lookout is marked by Rest Area signs as it is actually a rest area but there is a tall lookout type tower by it like the ones used to watch for Forrest fires so if you go past that you passed the road.
If coming from Tyler you will be going up a hill, there is a sign for CR 3908 where you can turn left or you can go up to the next left (old 69 highway).

I'll try and get some cardboard and get a big sign or two made we can put out to help ya find us

Hey guys, just a reminder that Becky and Lyle always bring hot dogs and grill them for the "meat" portion of our meal, and they will not be attending this RU....not sure if we should bring sandwiches for ourselves as part of the meal or if someone else would volunteer to bring hot dogs...

Also we will be doing door prizes again....gifts can be anything you choose, something nice that you would like to receive as a gift...whether store bought, handmade, anything.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Or just bring like a lunch meat tray and we can make sandwiches then we don't have to worry about charcoal for the cooking...

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

If we go with sandwiches....which is fine with me....I can bring the sides (like lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, etc) and condiments (mayo, mustard, salad dressing)........this instead of a salad.........JLMK

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

bump

Caddo Mills, TX(Zone 8a)

I can make 2 sandwich rings. JLMK

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm sorry... since we are coming from out of town and planning on coming down Friday, I can't bring anything perishable, like sandwish stuff or meat. I'm planning to bring brownies, and if it would help, I can bring ice or paper goods or anything that doesn't have to be refrigerated. Let me know.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I am in the same boat Pattie....I added another bag of chips.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

I can bring chips too. Actually, I still have all the paper goods that I signed up to bring last fall, but someone else had already signed up to bring those. I'll save them till fall 2010.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

I think one of the problems is that now one is speaking up as the person in charge. Lots of people say just let me know and there is no one letting them know. I hate to ask Mybus2 to be in charge but someone needs to decide which direction to go with this. In the past we have just winged it and everything seems to work itself out but this year we are sounding lost. It looks like many people have a tight schedule and would rather go for something like sandwiches. We seem to have ten people wanting to bring chips. I say lets go with sandwiches and make it simple but we should have someone trying to head this up, we all seem lost.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

I'm here sorry have been filling out AFS reports that are missing on students so everyone is up to date.

I think we will go with sandwiches that way we don't have to deal with cooking there ....Head count is above but plan on a few extras just to be safe.

Pattie I put you down earlier for brownies or cookies
Karen said she has plates and silverware
Lee said relishes and condiments
Chell Bread is fine
several have said chips
Tina if you want to do the meat trays that is fine
several said tea

we need cups, ice, maybe a salad or two and another dessert or two store bought is fine too

Also we will be doing door prizes again...gifts can be anything you choose, something nice that you would like to receive as a gift...whether store bought, handmade, anything. Please remember anyone wanting to be in door prizes needs to bring something for each person with them that is going to be in it.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

I've been lurking, and not posting much since I'm not going to be able to come this time, but had to chime in here, that the GCRU put our people to shame in the food department! Yeah I said "our" cause ETRU will always be my 1st love!! If I am still in charge this fall, I'll be harping more about what we need. I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but we've been pretty skimpy in the food department for several RU's, and when a member says they held back eating for fear of not having enough food for everyone made me see we need to change things a lil and start harping... if you will....LOL

Come on ETRU... make this one the best one yet!! I am already missing all of you, and even the ones I haven't met!! Love y'all and hope the day is grand and full of fun for everyone!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, I had been holding back because I wasn't sure we could make it, but as of now it looks like we will, so I will bring a cake and pop, but not ice too far to drive.
Josephine.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

I must have missed something because I have never seen people need more than was brought. I really like the sandwich idea because it is always a hectic time, trying to get everyone's plants and food. I don't come to roundups to eat, I come to see my fellow plant buddies. Even the plants are second to spending time with friends I have come to love. It seems over the years, that most of our good friends were meet through plant swaps, plant org. and such. We have friends in Arlington that we met through Brugmansia Growers International and we make it a point to see them on most of our Metroplex visits. Plant people are the best.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Hey Becky go back to lurking ..ROFL....you will be missed of course....but we always have plenty enough food to go around with some left over at times.

I think simple is better as we all agree we never seem to get a chance to talk to everyone each time so this way maybe we will

Jo - cake and pop is fine dear I have a cooler I will bring

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Just in case anyone asks this will take place rain or shine since we have the pavilion

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Phyllis....I had offered a case of water ....and will drop back to one bag on the chips...looks like others are lining up for those. I may also bring a dessert, nothing special since we are traveling too.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Sorry I missed the water offer and if you want to bring dessert instead of chips that is fine too

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Will do. Water and dessert.

Tyler, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm already down for bread, but I picked up some cokes today (pepsi & sprite), and I'll also bring fruits.

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

Someone should advise Ken that ....................coke = pepsi & sprite............................also!! (smile)
(you'll need to read the last 4-5 posts on the ETRU attendance & food thread)

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Coke = RC, OK Orange.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Coke= Any carbonated beverage, lol
