Ok, to "unhijack" the thread, I will post a picture of the "dreaded ribbon grass" with lithodora. It really is quite lovely with almost any flower...until it covers it never to be seen again.

And Bonehead, so you have an idea of how the "dreaded ribbon grass" grows when it is happy, I will post a very poor but informative picture (still haveing to take my pics in very low light in May unless I am home on a weekend, and this was not the case with this photo) of how it operates. The whitish grass in the center right of the garden was the spot that I originally planted my grass. I have dug and pulled and fought to keep that clump to that size. The rocks in the front of the photo line a natural creek, and the whitish grass in that area (that planted itself there very happily) I have let go, and that is about three years growth. I keep it low with the weedeater once a month, and it is a lovely accent for my creek as nothing else grows there. Again, if you really have a place you would like it to take over, I can send quite a bit of it when I clean up that garden this spring, because everything but the middle clump will be going to the compost pile!
One thing about the ribbon grass, it's quite easy to pull up. I can't say the same about the lithodora!
Julie, there comes a point with DHs that you have to remind them you have waited long enough. the fairies need cutting. Make room.
2 years is extreme patience. Ask Pix. I am sure she will agree with me on this. I can't imagine waiting more than.......a day? Okay, in a pinch, if he is travelling, 30 hours. Actually, I just jump in and its amazing how quickly he responds - but then I have no idea what a plasma cutter is.
this is why I do it myself.
