Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Thought you guys might like to see what I did today. Killed this bad boy with one shot from my trusty pellet rifle. I'm getting to be a regular Annie Oakley. LOL

Is he a bad boy? Unless he is missing his head, he looks pretty harmless.

Vernon, AL

good shot Cajun, another one bites the dust, now you can hang it on a fence or a tree limb and make it rain.... or thats what i do with em .

North of Heber, AZ(Zone 6b)

Wow, looks about 4 feet long. What kind of snake, Cajun?

I killed a rattler a couple of years ago, wanted to save it and skin it to make a snakeskin belt, but after a day in the sun it was too late! Ewwww! Freedom, I didn't know you could use them to make rain. Sounds good, we usually need rain. Right now we are getting clouds every afternoon but the rain goes somewhere else. Time to do my rain dance, I guess.

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

Please do not point that rain dance this direction - to wet to till for fall crops. Three weeks.

Vernon, AL

LOL send it this way Dyson, or ill have to go snake hunting again

Everglades, FL(Zone 10a)

We live in the swamps (Everglades) of SW Florida and have lost our jobs half a year ago- we sure would like to know more about self sufficiency!

POTTSBORO, TX(Zone 7b)

cyber--zone 10a will be able to grow about any edible plant one would care to grow. Just learn to beat the bugs and other critters to it. :)
I like frogs and gators fried with salt and pepper--
Find a Seminole elder and ask him/her--they will know much more than I.

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

It was a copperhead. Very harmful. We burned him on the burn pile we had going. I had flattened his head with a golf club after I shot him and he was still trying to strike. Nasty thing. I lost a nice hen a few days ago to a snake bite. One of my expensive game hens. I'm having a rough time with my chickens. Dog attack, snake bite and mystery disease.

I am going to start a new thread asking people to identify items on Freedon Sailor's porch. The one with the most right answers gets to go spend a week with him.

Don't get bent out of shape I am just kidding. I think you are quite a worker. Makes me very tired to read all the things you are doing.

Vernon, AL

LOL that's ok, just make sure its for single women only then..... an all will be kewl cause i'd enjoy some help an company round here.

Vernon, AL

dang i'll be glad when i finish mixin n pouring all this cement to finish my steps along side the cabin, maybe two more days of it an it'll be finished, then i can move on to other projects at hand.

Richmond, TX

Amazing how a lot of cement turns into a little when you start pouring it into place.

Vernon, AL

You got that right Porkpal, 11 steps up beside my cabin, an one 2x3 ft. landing onto the porch.

Vernon, AL

here's a shot looking down the steps

Wow! No wonder you've been pouring cement for ages. That's a lot of steps. I like the end result!

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Good job, Bob!

Vernon, AL

ty ty .. i dint go for the exacting mesurments, nor all the same size for that matter ... i went with the lay of the land and tried not to mess the the natural apearence too much. i'd walked up an down that hill so many times the size an location of each step was already kinda laid out so i just went with the flow. and they fit my stride.

Caneyville, KY(Zone 6b)

Beautiful!

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Common sense steps are always easier to climb.

LOL

POTTSBORO, TX(Zone 7b)

freedom-if you like okra you need to try this one--Beck's Big Buck-a friend of mine in S. Alabama sent this to me this spring. One pod will make a side dish for one person. It is open pollinated. It taste great and was still producing when I had to "do it in" to make room for fall garden last week.-(mid-Sept)-It holds on the stalk for at least a week so you do not have to pick it every day. I have been growing veggies (and weeds) for 40 years and this is absolutely the most amazing veg. (actually a fruit) that I have ever grown or seen. I will send you some seeds if interested.

Thumbnail by VORTREKER
Richmond, TX

It does not get woody?

POTTSBORO, TX(Zone 7b)

porkpal--it does but it can stand on the stalk and be edible for 1-2 weeks. Unlike all other okras I have grown that get woody after 2-3 days on the stalk.

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Wow! that is one honkin' big okra. Where can it be purchased? Do you cook it like any other okra?
