We have lots of Red-bellied Woodpeckers around the neighborhood all year around and I've seen immature Red-bellied in the past, but this little guy seems much smaller and chubbier (maybe just younger than I've seen before?) so I'm not sure. We also have Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers in our area. I'm still leaning towards the Red-bellied, but need input for someone more knowledgeable.
Thanks for any input!

CLOSED: Is this a Red-bellied baby?
Hi PL, Not a red-bellied at all. It's a Sapsucker (Yellow-bellied Sapsucker). Looks like it may be a female.

Thanks pelletory! I saw the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in my Florida Bird Book and it does say it's a winter resident in Fla. but it only showed a photo of one with a red throat as well as head and I didn't think it was that one at all but I kept thinking it didn't look quite right for the Red-bellied Woodpecker either, the beak looked different. LOL, now I read in my bird book where it says the female Yellow-bellied Sapsucker has a white throat! Thank you so much! I wanted to put a couple of pic's in Bird Files but wanted to make sure I uploaded them to the correct bird!
Thanks again!
