About halfway through summer in Australia i noticed that some insect eggs were popping up in my carpet.
They are about 1/2 a centimeter long at most and resemble rice grains. The insect eggs have a purple/brownish color and are found burrowed within the carpet with a few coming out on the surface.
The majority of the eggs were found mostly under cardboard boxes.
It would be much appreciated if someone could help me work out what I'm dealing with.
Insect egg ID if possible
From their colour and size you report, I suspect that these objects more likely are the pupae of flies of some sort. You might placing a few in a jar with a pierced lid and see if anything emerges.
