How long does it start to root a leaf and then make a small plantlet?
Leaves - can vary in time it takes to "make babies". Some as early as a few weeks (rare), to as long as 6 months. Alot depends on the variety - whether it is a fast or slow grower. Once your leaf has been stuck for a few weeks, try tugging on it very gently . . . if there is resistance, then roots are forming, and it is just a matter of time. If there is resistance, and the leaf you stuck appears to be getting larger, cut the top half of the leaf off. This will encourage the growth of the babies, not the momma leaf.
Still catching up on threads............Bonnie..........that Psychadelic Son is just to die for!
I think it is absolutely amazing!
This must be a new one for Bristol's? Not sure I have ever seen that one.
WOW.
Awesome picture too!

I have a question. My home is a ranch type house with the short windows. Not much natural light, does anyone know where I could purchase the shelf that goes on a window sill or the one on a stand behind the kitchen sink?
Thanks,
Teresa in KY
Hi, well I just wanted to report that I drove down to the Nashville Lawn and G Show and purchased my 2 first violets! So pretty! I bought the full size Hawaii and Harlequin there. Now, if I can only keep them alive and thriving.
Anyone know a good place to buy a window shelf for the kitchen? Orone of those with wrought iron over the facet is cute. Also, don't I need to replant these?

Teresa,
I'm not sure where to get one of those shelves.I've seen them in the Improvements catalog and they have a website.
If your plants are looking good right now,I would just isolate them from other plants and wait a few weeks to repot.
Lynn
Here's thie website.
