Our life's goal

Richmond B.C., Canada

Am just starting my stretch of days off and found this thread.........I STILL think all of our souls have actually known each other for the eons when I read what you have all contributed.

Pixy, I feel that somewhere in your dream about creating your leaves as a viable business there is an actual answer for you. One of my friends/co-workers is a potter and she actually does have display space in a gallery for her pieces. I am not sure what kinds of sales have happened because I feel like it's really none of my business but what I DO know is that she has exposure that could certainly contribute to her success. Have you looked into gallery space for yourself?

hugs to each of you from me for this part of life we are sharing......sounds like we are all bang-on for where we should be in Maslow's pyramid........ :-)

A February calendar page:

1) the path is not straight.
2) mistakes need not be fatal.
3) people are more important than achievements or possessions.
4) be gentle with your parents.
5) never stop doing what you care most about.
6) learn to use a semicolon.
7) you will find love.

I today took off on a small airplane into a growing fog bank moving in from the costal Mts. Cold air dumps off Glacier Bay into our flight path of IcyStraights and the fog is difficult for flying back to Juneau. So when flying 50 ft above the water the pilot was looking rt and lt rapidly and I knew I was at risk. There is a large range of mountains that blocked our flight. I was suddenly relaxed and focused on what would be next and was peaceful. My tech too was worried and I lied about a whale spouting below. We got back but that flying into nothingness was kind of good to know that fear is such a benign reaction.

Holy s, Sofer, that's quite the day. I lost friends in small planes over water in Alaska. Do not go gentle into that good night, if you don't have to!!! Did you really *have* to take off into a cloud/fog bank in mountainous country? Come on now, fess up.

I like your February calendar, Susy. Especially the part about mistakes not necessarily being fatal. Some are more fatal than others, of course.

We left in 300 ft of good visibility. But when went to Icy Straights entered a cloud of fog. Now 15 minutes into the flight we were committed. The rest is history. Got Home. Pilots HAVE to fly into the unknown here in AK. Otherwise you would get nowhere. The way it is in Cold down draughts of glacier cold.

Glad you are home. Sounds kind of scary to me.

Carnation, WA(Zone 7b)

Glad you are home safe. Note to Self: Must remember to pack/wear an adult diaper should I ever take such a flight.

Amen to that.^_^

I am coming home with atravel partner. She is a 3 yr old cat who has now gone through 3 flights in her arrival to her new home in Montana. She has experienced the roar of engines and the cabin pressure changes without a peep. She has made me proud of the life's goal to make our critters have a better place here on earth. I got to Seatac and revarded her with a stretch in her private family bathroom followed with a feast of Anthony's salmon. Needless to say she is curled up with a full tummy.

Excellent, Steve! I hope everything continues on a positive course for her.

Wonderful! What's her name?

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Welcome home, Wrangell!! Great news, Steve.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Welcome home steve and kitty with full tummmy.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I love that tummmy, Laurie. Gives me a nice vision of a verrry full kitty belly. IMO, kitty bellies are some of the most wonderful things.

Here is Wrangell stretching her legs in the "family" bathroom.

Oooh, I absolutely love those black kitties.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

So tell us her story, Steve. She must be a special girl for you to bring her all the way home from AK.

(love kitty tummies, mmmm)

Sofer what a cutie. The goal to take care of creatures is a noble one indeed. That's one lucky kitty!

I have been thinking a lot about goals lately - Sofer this thread has my brain working overtime. I think about personal goals, but now I'm asking myself what I'm doing to make those goals into actualities. Am I sitting around being lazy and waiting for things to happen, or I am doing something about it? I need a few plans!

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Goals are very important to me. It keeps me with options.
My Kitty is 'Wrangell", and she is sooooo glad to be in our home. She has a wonderful personality and rubs her face on everyone who she meets. The dogs, and our cat who is using four letter words with her. She just turns and walks away and sits where ever she wants. She has chosen the sun room for her favorite chair and the dogs and other cat want us to intervene. I am training her to sleep downstairs in the "Suite" where my mom stays when she is here. That way she will have a cat to keep her company when she is here. We have enjoyed our new friend.

Oh, she's VERY special.

Langley, WA(Zone 7b)

What a fabulous idea about the suite and your mom!

I just love new pets. Oh, except for the taking-care-of-them part.

Oh boy I have taken the first big step in writing for the first time. Paragraph one of my article for some magazine. Outside, Alaska Air, and my beginning at Petersburg Pilot and Wrangell Sentinal. " I suppose my life in Alaska began with the death of a majestic Larix occidentalis. It's demise began with the absence of the expected jet stream over the forests of NW Montana. 'El Nino's' insistance of diverting the Gulf of Alaska's ocean moisture south........ Another of life's goals has begun.

Always the dapper gent, Steve.
This is the warmest january since the 1800's. Jet stream well to the south.
I could really enjoy this type of Winter from here on out.
