I'm going to be experimenting with my Asparagus ferns by taking cuttings and using rooting hormone powder to see if I can get them to root for me. My brother started some from seed... there is one in the pot that is different from the other one and I want more of it! Has anyone done this, and has it worked for you?

Propagating Asparagus Fern from cuttings?
I've never tried cuttings, but I've noticed little bulbs down among the roots, I bet those would make new plants.
They are basically "throw away" plants here, no one wants them, or the stores will discount them to 50 cents or so.
A shame, they are nice.
Thanks, I"ll look when I take the pot apart!
If you have multiple stems growing from the soil, you can dig it up and divide the plant, making sure that you have roots/stems on any divisions. That is the fastest way. I don't recall anything about stem cuttings on these asparagus relatives, but it is fun to try.
Thanks!
