I was told to find white pineapple seed starts. I did not know that pineapples could be started from seeds, I though it was just the tops and babies from the mother plants that could be used. Anyone know where to buy seed starts? I tried plantfiles, seedman, stokes, and google with no luck thus far...
Starting Pineapples
Only ever started them from the tops.I saw on tv once about the seeds. What I remember is the seeds were formed on the outside of the fruit.Under the outside of the prickly skin.Over the years the hybriders have bred the pineapples to be seedless. So it is rare to find seeds nowadays.I have never seen seeds for sale.If you can't find them in your area,I would not no where to look???? H_F_, I am sure you know that the pups right under the pineapple are what you use to make more bearing pineapples but other readers may not. The pineapple top will certainly root and grow but I was never able to get fruit when I lived in Ft. Lauderdale many years ago.
Why don't you ask DG'er Metrosideros; he lives in your neighborhood and I bet he knows where to find those seeds.
