I started some seeds inside and I have them on a seedling heat mat and about 18 inches away from the fluorescent lights and they are looking leggy. What do I need to do now. thanks.

Stetch, What kind of seeds are they and how tall now?
Your light is to high, it should be an inch or two above the plants, the seedlings are trying to reach the light.
Also remove them from the heat mat, the mat is to aid germination, once they have germinated they will continue to grow on the cool side.
Do you have a picture to post?
Stetch, providing some air movement in the room will also help the plants to "stiffen up". Don't put a fan blowing directly on the seedlings, all you need is enough to see the plants gently move every once in a while.
