Is it time to plant Moonvine seed??
Moonvine seed
I'm in NW Florida, zone 8b/9a, and I plan to plant mine the first day of February. I did it this way last year (my first year in Florida) and they did beautifully. I just cut back the vines today and they are still alive, so I will wait a couple of weeks and see what leafs out, to decide how many seeds to pre-sprout.
I have one moonvine seed I got last fall and it has buds but no blooms yet. I din't know about it. tips are turning yellow but center is still green so there is still hope. I got some seed in the piggy swap and I hope they make it. So I will wait til Feb. 1 to plant. Thanks
If you need more, I have fresh ones - harvested in Dec. '09.
Charleen - I'd wait until after your last frost date. Moonvine seeds will turn to mush if they freeze. But you could start one inside and transplant outdoors when Spring arrives. :-)
Charleen, I have planted a moon vine seed inside in the window, it came up fast and is vining. You have a great window for Morning Glories. Put it in a hanging planter of some sort that would be good!
I'm starting them in the house. They won' t go out til The freezes are over.
I believe I got a basket outside I can bring in to start the moonbabies.
Thanks you all.
