New help IDing spider
One of the problems encountered in identifying orb weaving spiders (family Araneidae) of this nature is that there are several species in at least two different genera that can have roughly similar similar color patterns as well having these patterns highly variable. In some cases, dissection and examination of certain body structures under magnification may be necessary for a specific determination. That aside, one of the prime suspects for this individual is Araneus diadematus, a species that occurs both in Europe and North America - see http://tinyurl.com/yg4z555 for an example.
