I was reading the article here on DG about State Flowers and since I'm a native Kansan I've always wanted some of the native sunflowers that grow here in fields and by the roads. Across from where I work is a large field and I noticed today that many of the stalks still had dried flower heads on them. My question is this. If I gather enough flower heads that still have some seed in them, will that seed be viable or is it too late?
Native Kansas Sunflower Seeds in the dead of winter
If there are still seeds in, they will be viable. It's no problem they had frost. In nature they get that too and the seeds germinate in spring.
