This is Toby. We got him the Saturday after Christmas. He's a rescue Lhasa Apso {which we decided after checking the AKC breed standard site}. My son's girlfriend found him wandering on a busy street.
We're glad to have him!

My New Friend
Awww how adorable. He is lucky to have found you.
Toby is adorable and very fortunate, as are you, Martha, to have found such a sweet little guy to keep you well-cuddled in 2010. Did you name him or was his name on his tag?
The Tobster had no ID. He was found running loose out by a very busy street in the next town over by my son's girlfriend. She found him around Dec 1. She works for a vet who checked him out, started the whole shots thing and she did the ad campaign to find the owner flyers, internet, dog officer etc. Nobody has come forward or reported the dog missing to the dog officer. He's my dog now. He seems to like the snow we're having, unlike myself!
Martha
Congratulations to both of you!
How wonderful Martha!! Congrats and enjoy!!
Oh my! Mozart is very handsome too!!
Hi, Mozart!
Toby reports that the snow drifts in our driveway were three Lhasas high. My son is out making a dog path for us with the snow blower now. Toby seems to like the snow. My last two dogs had nothing to do with any kind of precipitation.
Martha
Oh my! You're so lucky! The dog I had when I first got Phoebe was a Lasha Apso--very devoted. She was my buddy for 16 years!
Toby looks like a real sweetie, Martha! What a cute face! I'm so glad he found a good home with you. I can't believe anyone would abandon such a nice looking dog. I could never abandon a dog, not matter whether he was nice looking or not, or didn't fit with our household or personality or whatever. If I decided a certain dog didn't fit in, then I would make every effort to find a home for him where he would. Some people just don't care, though, and consider animals to be disposable property. They aren't. They have feelings and emotions like us, even though they think differently.

Ditto what Karen just said! Lovely little guy, Martha! Makes my heart sing to hear such nice endings to horrific situations!
too cute!!!
What a cutie, looks like Benji in the first pic.
Thanks, but Benji had curlier fur. He has sort of a puppy cut to his face cause they took some mats off his face and ears. So his feathers are shorter than they are supposed to be. Come summer we will probably shave him down for coolness purposes. He's gonna get a trip to the groomer when he gets his stitches out. They'll even out his coat for now. Haven't had a groomer on retainer since I had a Shih Tzu. I had a hair dryer that I never used on me, only on the dog who generally had longer hair than I did! Toby does too.
Martha
Adorable!
Karen
Stitches out later today. I was away at my mom and dad's for a few days and left Toby in the loving care of my son and husband. They did OK but Toby managed to chew off the clasps of his new collar and harness! Off to Petsmart to do new ones tomorrow. They all survived my trip away.
Martha
Congrats on the new puppy!
Thanks! Toby looks so much less pathetic without the collar on. He has forgotten it completely. DH brought him a new squeaky chew toy to celebrate his recovery.
Martha
nice!!
Tee hee on the 5 minute theory. I hope you don't mind Martha if I'm secretly voting for 'tossled' pics. I luv when puppies run about and get tossled ^_^
I LIKE it ^_^ Methinks burning up a memory card with a new friend is a good thing ^_^
Nice shots of Toby. He looks happier when he's not cleaned up. LOL!
Karen
He was clean, just was wrestling with his chewy bone. Mussed his new coif a bit.
I have reinstituted the dog towel by the door for when we come back from walkies. Gotta dry him off underneath. Used to have to do that with my Shih Tzu Ming years ago, may she rest in peace.
Martha
I think Toby looks wonderful, and I think he knows he looks great and is happy about that! Looks so silky and shiny!
Yesterday we was given this purebreed. 12 weeks old. The people had him for 2 weeks and tossed him outside and made him stay out. He is not trained and man he is a tyrant!
1 of my dogs is ok with and the alpha dog is showing her teeth. I have my work cut out for the next couple of months...............
Poor dog doesn't know anything & poor you to have the patience to teach him.
such a cute face.. pit bull?
yes you are right about that ... did you get trained well
:)
lol
What a face!!! Too cute. Have fun.
After last night - I figure I got trained 1/2 well. I won the first half. The previous owners let him sleep in the bed. Last night he started on the floor for 2.5 hours then went down to 1 hour and then 30 mins. At 2 am it was every 10-15 mins he wanted in the bed crying, I gave in. He won the 2nd half.
We will start on the floor again tonight.
I love sleeping with my dogs.. they are nice bed warmers.. but they are a lot smaller than yours
1 gets to sleep in the bed (the dingo part chow the alpha dog). No way theres going to be 2 and with the husband 3 ! My 2 older dogs time is ticking. 11 -12 years old. I took this puppy as they are smart smart dogs and hopefully they can teach him and his time will come where he will be head of the house. Just trying to look ahead a bit.
and that pup is going to be a little bigger than yours, Allison.
oh just a tad bigger
:)
I love his face, Sherrie. He just needs lots of love after his poor beginning. Who could blame him for not knowing how to behave? The Dog Whisperer would say to be patient but firm with him and be sure not to hit him, as he has tasted abuse and needs a calm, assertive hand he can trust.
