Hi,
I have 2 Sweet Pea Bushes and the one is doing super great and the other got top heavy and fell out of the ground due to high winds. I replanted the bush and gave it lots of love. Well the bush turned whitish brown, almost like a plant that hasn't gotten water, but the leaves are not crispy and haven't fallen off the plant. I checked the stems and when I scratched it, it was green, so I assume the plant is still alive. What do I do? It is a match to my other plant and I know I can't find another one that looks like this, because it looks like a topiary. It has a thick tree like stem and then big on top. Should I trim this plant? Do I get rid of it? Your advise would be so helpful.
Thanks!
Jennifer
Sweet Pea Bush - Help
Jennifer,
Without being able to see the bush, my best advise is to thickly mulch the base of the plant and give it time. It sounds like it is in shock. Poor baby needs some time to recover. I wouldn't trim anything just yet. Wait until the spring to see how bad a hit it took. You may want to consider putting in some sort of temporary wind shield/shelter for it. Something you can remove once it has been reestablished.
I hope it makes it. Do keep us posted.
