I used to grow this vine years ago, but it just got too huge, and it had to go. I believe I got mine at Logee's, and they were calling it a Mucuna at the time. It took a few years to get going, but the base of the vines eventually were as thick as tree trunks. You can prune drastically after blooming as it blooms on new wood if I remember correctly.

Thanks, Marie. It really was a nice burst of color in the winter. Another winter bloomer is Hardenbergia, but it too becomes a monster so you have to give it a lot of room.

Hi clare-

You know, I remember seeing those pics a long time ago and thinking they looked different from Mucuna bennetti, now I know why. Looking at them I can now see that it is the Camptosema. I have read that it was once/is still confused with Mucuna. The flowers are somewhat similar but the leaves are very similar in appearance, Easy to see how they can be confused.
