MoreDisabled Gardeners Laughing With Joy...3

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well today.

Vickie, I appreciate the plants and I hope you did not overwork yourself getting them together. I know you have breathing trouble. I will treasure them always no matter what kind they are. I will smile and think of you. I cannot remember diddly anymore but I know where most of my flowers came from. I also remember exactly where I see one on a backroad or in the woods and go back for it when it is time to dig it. But I can't tell you where I put my keys.LOL. My priorities may be out of order.hehehe. I know the hubs thinks they are out of order. That reminds me I saw some today that I need to look up and find out what they are and how invasive they would be. They look good in arrangements because I picked some off the dirt road once. I heard about the oilspill but it is closer to Jim and Kay than me most likely. I hate it for the animals and fishermen etc.

Jim, You mentioned the pink stuff that the ladies fix at church, have you had the light green variety that is pistachio flavored jello, pineapples, coolwhip, pecans etc. We all just say the green stuff. My MIL fixes it at Christmas and Easter. I could hurt myself with that stuff, I love it. I had never had any before marrying into this family and I will not make it because I do not need it but it would not be Christmas without it. My youngest DD will not eat anything pudding like ( She did not get that from me) She does not like homemade Chocolate pies with meringue either. That is just tooooo bad and more for me.LOL.
I am not sure if the fringe tree is going to make it. It wilted and has not gotten better yet. That is why I did not move the biggest one. I can see it from the back porch and I would not take a chance on killing it. I have not had much success moving trees lately. I do not think this dirt agrees with them.

Have a goodnight everyone, scraps

ROFL. Scraps, what a timely comment. I've been too busy looking for Jim's lost keys to write. He even checked Stellla-dogs "treasure" collection thinking maybe she had gotten hold of them. We finally found them buried under stuff on his desk. I'm not going to say a word! Even if I have to duct tape my mouth shut, I'm not going to comment on the state of his desk. We could drive the truck because I had an extra set of keys, but it has a lockable gas tank and I didn't have an extra set of keys made for that. And, we are suppose to pick up J.'s eldest daughter at school tomorrow so she can spend Mother's Day with her Mom. . About a 300 mile trip. Oh well, we got some deep housecleaning done as part of the search so the time wasn't totally wasted.
I'll have to find that recipe. Jim likes pistachio anything.
So far, I've been happy with the wild plants I've taken into the landscape. Someone once brought me some Ohio spiderwort. Now, I have it everywhere. It is easy to pull up though and everyone loves the flower color, an intense shade of light blue. What I call French blue. The foliage is a little weedy looking but you can forgive it that since it flowers from April to Nov., if you keep cutting it back and don't let it go to seed. Personally, I would rather control excessive growth of a plant than nursemaid finicky plants. Kay*

Is that transcendentia, Kay? If it's what I'm thinking of, that is one of my 2 favorite colors, and hard to explain but I know what you mean. french blue is a good way to explain it, or periwinkle or lupine or something. Thatplabt vcomes in 'Sweet Kate' which has chartreuse leaves and pinker flowers bu I likeKay's version better. That is the color of my bathroom walls and a darker version on the front door! Thepainter called it purple but it isn't; it's very intense blue.

Our pink stuff is cottage cheese, cherry jello powder, cool whip and pineapple. adding strawberrys to it would be heaven. My strawberrys never make it farther than being mashed with splenda and put on angel food cake.I want to go pick some strawberrys tomorrow if i'm up to it. They are $6 a gal. if you pick them and $12 if they do.

Yes, Carrie. Tradescantia ohiensis. I just learned it comes in magenta. I’ll have to keep an eye out for that one. Jim has a lot of burgundy foliage in his garden.
We have an outside sink. I consider it lucky if the strawberries we grow make it to the kitchen. LOL. I still end up buying strawberries for recipes.
Planted plums, yucca, chocolate mint and several new canna varieties today. Wild plums once grew here so putting them back was especially satisfying. The air is heavy with the combined scents of roses and honeysuckles so being outside was pleasant despite the heat. I try not to think too much about the fact that wonderful honeysuckle fragrance is coming primarily from wild Japanese honeysuckle and how much weeding that scent signifies for me later in the summer. Rocks, I love rocks. Especially in the Emerald, Tanzanite, Ruby, or Diamond variety. I did get really excited when they blasted for a highway near my Mom's house and a fello rockhound taught me how to find Rhodochrosite. I found lots of it too. It's pink.

here is the recipe I mentioned. Enjoy.

PISTACHIO JELLO SALAD

12 oz. cottage cheese
3 oz. pkg. instant pistachio Jello
1 lg. Cool Whip
1 lg. can crushed pineapple, drained
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. miniature marshmallows

Mix all ingredients together. Refrigerate.

hello all, It is late and it has been a long day. We really need to do one thread and just chat about whatever is on our minds because it takes too long to go to all 3 and we are never on topic. Of course that is just an idea and no big deal. But I love you guys and have to see what is going on with you on each thread. We should all consider doing a reality show of our daily lives because like sheri said on one of the threads It is funny to read through some of the post. We all have so much going on and we have to laugh it off or we would stay in tears all the time. I have had such a long day I could eat a huge bowl of the recipe above just for the comfort food value. hehehe. love you guys.scraps

Scraps, I like the idea of weaving all the most active threads into one. But, if we wove "..Laughing..", "Compassion...." and "Practical Matters...." together, what would we call it? Sounds like you had ONE OF THOSE DAYS. I feel tired and my back hurts just hearing about it. LOL. I'm sure crawling under the house to fix an air conditioning duct has nothing to do with my feeling tired and achy :-)
Thanks for the recipe, I will probably try it out tomorrow. Sounds like a nice dessert for a hot day. It has been in the upper 80's and lower 90's the last few days. At least, the AC problems didn't hit on one of our 100+ days. (Jim)

Hey everyone, I think maybe just a chit chat would do and if we have a specific subject come up we could start a new one if need be. It was just an idea and no big deal. But it is mostly the same group on each anyway. I just get on the accessible forum everyday unless I need a specific question answered somewhere else on another subject. I just made friends here and stayed. I need to get some rest I have to go to nursing home to see mom tomorrow.

Happy Mother's day to all you ladies. scraps

If ONLY we could stay on topic it would be great, I like having three separate threads. Of course there's no way on earth anyone can stay on topic, though, even in the Writers Forum which is restricted, limited, disciplined, monitored and all that stuff, we can't seem to stick to one topic per thread, and then we get deleted! No fun. This should be fun .

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

I'll go with the flow. You guys decide and i'll follow suite. Course you know what a scatterbrain i tend to be sometimes but i'll try hard to stay on subject.
This is laughing with joy thread.
And i've got one. Miss Kitty always has to go with me to look over my flowers and like a good flower lover always helps me when i work. This evening i was just looking around, Miss Kitty in tow. All of a sudden Miss Kitty let out a wail. I looked back and Miss Kitty could'nt find me. I called her name and she came running and lept into my arms. This cat is a year old kills mice and snakes and prowls alone at night but if i'm outside she's a total baby.Guess i'll have to put her on a leash. LOL

Lena, MS(Zone 7b)

hello everyone, I may be the one that gets off topic but not intentionally. I just try to see what has been posted and reply to that but I may be on the wrong forum when I start out telling you about my day. Fibromyalgia books say we have what they call fibrofog basically we are scatter brained. Please just ignore me if I am off topic or send me to the right one. If I moan and groan on the joy thread send me to compassion because I am always in need of compassion for my aching back. If I start laughing out loud on compasion send me to joy forum to cheer everybody up. I love you guys and I need a guide to keep me straight. Goodnight, my meds are starting to hit me.Scraps

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

Guess i'm a little afraid if we're worried about what thread we're on we'll kinda hold back on posting and i love the free give and take we all have.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

This is the 213th joyful post - so I think I will start a new thread. Be right back.

OK, I don't think we should hold back - that's not the idea. But I do better when things are more organized. People used to call obsessive or whatever but I think it's my only defense against the Swiss cheese in my brain. (You know, full of holes.) I do think compassion, rejoicing, and nitty-gritty details are all separate issues, but I don't care if they get mixed together on one, two or three threads.

So chime in on the continuation, still laughing #4.
