It hasn't moved. They're doing some welding the generator is probably for that. hehehe...I'd snap a pic but don't want to seem too nosy...dressed in white, snaking on belly through the hip deep snow, camera poking up like a submarine scope...
I'm so nosy...
That explains it!
Aw come on! Don't you have a telephoto lens or something so you can take pictures from behind your window curtains, lol?
That's pretty cool. I was expecting a flatter surface too.
Please keep us updated, if you don't mind. This is really interesting. Thanks!
GO Ninja 3G GO! Also besides the government incentive alot with solar in Cowtown sell back to the grid in the summer. I have absolutely no idea how that works but I assume they get money. It's mentioned all the time at seminars as the thing to do.
Here it's known as net metering. You're not really 'selling back' in real time, though they are taking the surplus back in real time. They simply subtract what you generate from your usage and pay the difference. You can have a month or two where you actually generate more than use, and that surplus is held as a cumulative credit. You then get the credit once a year.
Ah that's how it works. Thanks Victor.
So in the winter you still have to pay a hydro bill? or does it balance out...?
I pay electric all year around.
But I thought the solar would cover it?
Not the total. Takes care of about 60% of mine. The way the incentives work - you can't actually 'make money'. You can only build a system that approaches your yearly needs.
Victor, do you think it was worth it?
I followed (with great interest) your thread when you had the solar system installed and I wonder if you are happy with it?
Absolutely! Was estimated by the installer to provide about 40% of my needs. As of the two - year anniversary, it has provided over 60%.
Well, I guess it was better than you had expected then! That's always a good thing!
And as rates go up, the payback time decreases.
Any unforeseen thing happen? maintenance? bird poo cleaning, stuff like that? How long do the batteries last?
Nope - bird poo wears off. There are no batteries. No storage.
