Sunny, your little guy is adorable! Love that second one too.

Gary, that Costa's is beautiful.

Like Sunny, things are picking up here too. I now have two young new visitors-Anna's. Had to take these through the window unfortunately.

sunnyg the little ones sure do luv your hood!!! Great pics gramassen from your trip. duc are you ever hummerless? Tee hee SharonK not many maples are hardy in my zone. I have white spruce, blue spruce, mountain ash, green ash, caragana, weeping caragana, mugo pine, mayday, nanking cherry, lilac, staghorn sumac and an old ornamental fruit tree that I have yet to ID. Hanging about my fence lines at the neighbours are crabapple, white pine and white birch. Now shall we discuss the shrubby things? ^_^ I luv woodys cuz the birds do.

I was just pulling your chain because of the Maple Leaf on some flag I saw somewhere. Can you tell I do not travel much. DH dislikes leaving home. I am getting a rented lifter so I can get up and trim back some of the fig vine before the hummers start making their nests. I paid a tree service over $500 last year to trim it and they did a horrible job. So I have to rent the lifter because I cannot be trusted on a ladder because I would just fall off.

So I was walking up the stairs to get something from upstairs. I have large windows that show the front courtyard and the fig vine going up the stairs. I had a dusting cloth in my hand and that is when all of a sudden this large bird flew at me and then flew off. It startled me so I did not get a good look at it until I saw it flying away. I think it is a hawk. So I stood there for several minutes but it did not come back. Then I started reviewing the fig vine and lo an behold, there is a nest, about the size of the lower quarter of a football. So another new adventure for me. I actually have three large windows upstairs that overlook this area so I should be able to get some pictures. Now I need to find out if this bird will drive off my hummers because I usually have a least 4 nests and they should be on their way.

I will keep you posted. Yeah, we are suppose to have rain again this weekend.

Hawks and hummers might not be a good mix. Some hawks prefer little birds over rodents. Please keep us posted on what it is.

Thanks :-). We are coming into breeding season here, and I'm hoping to see some nests really soon. Gras, the Costa's is darling, and duc, what cute new visitors you have. I'm glad it's getting busy in your neck of the woods as well!

Edited to add: Wow, that sounds like a huge nest, Sharon!

Not really. If you look at the end of the football it tapers off to a small end. I will take a photo tomorrow.
