This appears to be a gynandromorph (displaying male and female characteristics in the same individual) of a carpenter bee (likely Xylocopa varipuncta). In your specimen, the male parts appear golden; the female portions are black. See http://tinyurl.com/ycgwe7x and http://tinyurl.com/ydn3zl3 for other examples. As these appear to be quite rare, you might contact the University of Colorado to see if they would be interested in your specimen.
