Need Some Ideas

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Hey Ladies!!

This one is for all my goofy friends out there. You know who you are. ^-^.

I made these a few days ago and I just can't figure out what to do with them. I need a clever idea. I could do magnets, but that is so not exciting. Or plant pokes. Rather have something really cool to use them for so I can have an excuse to make more. There might just be a prize for the best idea!

Oh Juanita, those would be great for name plates for plants and beds.

You're having way too much fun, Nita. They'd be cool accents for clay pots & awesome focal points in mixed media mosaics....that is if you've already decided not to submit your ideas to "Sunday Morning".

Does anybody else remember those plastic daisy-face pots that danced and sang?

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

I think they would look cute with a wire hanger to hang on kitchen wall. How big are they? Really cute!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Do they float? If so, imagine the conversations started with the smiley faces in a pretty bowl.
Best idea yet! Send them to me....I promise I'll find something to do with them.
Now, how did you do that?

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Some good ideas ladies! Keep em coming. These are about 3 inches in diameter. Not particularly weatherproof. Polymer clay gets brittle when it is exposed to sun and elements over time.

Mosaics?? Fruity you might have something there.

Hi everyone!

Wanted to let everyone know I heard from Ms Jamie this morning and she is without power..... so of course has no way to get online.

Sorry to say I missed her call and only can tell you what she told me on the voicemail. I'll be calling her back in a little while...have this thingy to do with my heart first but will call her just as soon as I can.

I'll be posting this on all the forums that I know of she visits frequently.

She said to tell everyone she is fine and loves you all!

I'll let everyone know more when I myself learn more.

Thanks Jane for the update!

Those are so cute.
They could hang from a window, for like a suncatcher, maybe attach them to a drawer for like a drawer pull some how, Glue them on a picture frame, maybe one on each corner, maybe hang several from a wire to make a mobile, maybe glue a mirror on the other side and make a handle for it.
Let me keep thinking.

Been doing the same thing, LK.

Can they be coated with something to make them waterproof? If so they might work as accents in a tiled back-splash in the kitchen or on a bathroom wall.

Great Idea FruitOFTheVine! I would put them in my kitchen.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Hey flowers, where's Leicester?

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Its on the outskirts of Asheville NC FruitofTheVine. About 20 minutes from Asheville the big city.

I grew up in SC, loved going to the Biltmore House. That was quite a treat in those day. Oh my, isn't it gorgeous especially at Christmastime?

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

yes it is, have been at Christmas and is a sight to see!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for all the input! I think I am leaning toward decorating things with these. Maybe some pots, frames, etc. Got some more of the wooden cut outs today and a few other items I might put some faces on. Looks like I will have lots of time in the next few days since the weather is heading for disaster here. :(

When I looked at them the first thing that popped into my head was that they would make fun tiebacks for the drapes. They could be looking at a nearby table or the view outdoors. I would have to put one at the top/center of the window too.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

I like your tieback idea, Juney. My wheels are turning wondering if I have anything in my stash I could turn into them.

Our local meteorologists are predicting 12" of snow beginning tomorrow and ending Saturday evening. I am not looking forward to this much snow so early.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Eeeeuuuuwwiii..... I remember getting hit by that deep stuff when I lived between Lexington and Buena Vista on Poplar Hill back in '86 or 7. It is tuff to dig out of that pretty stuff...

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

yepper Susan we are going to get nailed. Will be spending the day trying to get ready. Once it comes we will not be getting up or down the driveway unless we walk. Walking down in a foot of snow is doable, up..not so much. I hate winter. :P

Hanson, KY(Zone 6a)

Juanita,
Oh my po, po wittle gooberhead will be fallin down on her po wittle bottom! ^_^
Hey girlie...here's my ideas...and I know how much you want them...I think they would make a beautiful mobile or even would look great made into a windchime....or as accents in one of those braided plant hanger.

Janie!!! She's alive!! Been worried about you.

Just taking a break from snow preparations. Still have lots to do, but my hands we cold and I came in for a bit.

Gonna be an interesting weekend,

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

LOL Rainy Janie, you wascally wabbit.

The first of 25 zillion flakes just started here at 2 pm. Watch out, Nita, I figure they'll be falling in your neck of the woods pretty soon.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Oh crap Susan. This is not going to be fun.

Better run. DH just got home and we need to move the vehicles down now.

Later guys,
J

Good luck everyone with all that snow. I want some, well more that we have, but not as much as you will be getting.
Stay warm..sending hugs

How wonderful they are! I would love one on a clay pot for a plant. The pot painted a color to accent the pretty color of the flower.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

I was wondering about you today, Faye, and how much snow you got. I wish I could send you truckloads of ours. It's mesmerizing watching it fall but this old chick isn't going anywhere for the next couple of days.

Anybody who wants to romp in our fields is welcome to come & build Snowmen to your heart's content.

rvnsbrk and FruitoFTheVine, sounds like we are in the same snow boat. Haven't seen this much snow since the Blizzard of 93.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

We totaled out at 20 inches. As cold as it is supposed to be here for the forseeable future, I will be looking at this snow until July. Can't wait to miss it. :))

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

We got very little snow and it's almost completely gone now. Boy am I glad we didn't get what you did. I don't want to be forced to stay in. Stay warm, good time for hot chocolate. Love to all
Merry Christmas.

The drought continues here. Not much more than pretty dustings on the mountains a couple of times. I guess that is a good thing as I am having enough of a challenge just getting used to driving in a big city again.
