Found this bug on my poinsettia plant. It is magnified 40x under microscope. It is about 1mm in length and appeared to jump a little.
CLOSED: Any idea what this bug is?
This is a thrips, a tiny insect in the order Thysanoptera. Most are plant feeders, with a few species being important pests; others are predaceous on other small arthropods. They are interesting in only having one functional mandible (the left one) - see http://tinyurl.com/5mmwwp for more detailed information.
Perfect match, thanks suuno!
