hi Jianhua & Tim ;),
if not mistaken Jianhua refers to the complexion of our skin. i do have some Spanish, Chinese, Malay & Japanese ancestry in my bloodstream. my complexion is yellowish tanned by the hot desert sun. right Jianhua ;)?
who knows Jianhua might have coined a new way to describe us.... hahahahaha... ma vie
MaVie
I knew what Jianhua meant, it just that I haven't heard it in awhile.
Just a tad yellowish, but very tanned. :)

no problem here Jianhua :D)!!! lovely pansy flower too ;o)! http://www.ibiblio.org/herbmed/neat-stuff/viola.html http://www.americanmeadows.com/bulk_ind_detail.cfm?itemid=140 it is not the first time, people love to give me name. the Indian people in our neighborhood in the Phils. used to call me Surya - an Indian word meaning 'Sunshine'. people i used to work with in the Phils., used to call me Maharlika, meaning "one of royal blood" in the Filipino language. Ma Vie Rosé is of French origin, meaning "my life is colorful!". Ma Vie is derieved from my Christian name Maria Victoria. now u make me wonder... what would that translate to in the Chinese language? hehehehehe!!! ma vie
ohhhhhhh i love this... i got a new name :D)!

Mavierose:in Chinese your newly given nickname is 'ÈýÉ«ÝÀ'sansejin.san means three,se means color and jin means viola.by the way, line up your names together to see if you can be listed on the Guinness Book.(just kidding).i often give my kids flower names.for example,if a gal is shameful,i call her Mimosa;if a gal is used to getting up early i call her morning glory,...in this way, i make my classes lively and interesting.and they love to lsiten to me.and there is no need to pull their ears.lalala!!!

Jianhua... several years ago, thru the prodding of my son i went back to school after 35 yrs. of being absent from the school system. instead of reaching my goal to achieve a higher education i got side track from reaching my goal cause the professor talked me into tutoring other students. in the process, similar to what u do with students, i do have a way of catching everyone's attention and make the class interesting. i had so much fun with the students & vice versa.
not a bad idea, Jianhua ;)), but i think someone else has far more interesting names than i.
say... speaking of giving names... a movie i viewed long time ago comes to mind "Flower drum song'. u'll get a kick out of this one. i distinctly remember this guy who had several children. he had so many children, he could hardly remember their names. he gave them #s instead of their name, made life easier for him. having said that, would u mind if i call u Son #2? Son #1 is my son Mike whose close and dear to me, my biological son. i have many cyber children too. and most of Mike's friends also calles me Mom. most former students i've worked with also calls me Mama... sansejin ;>))
MavieRose:and i got a new nickname.these days being eating too much hot pepper ,my right eye was sore and swollen like a goldfish's.so i have to wear a pair of dark glasses teaching in classes.i overheared a kid saying:attention, pals! the Glass is coming!
the other day i met an old lady, whom i offered her a cigarette.she said:thanks,Son.and if you call me Son,i would be very glad--it makes me feeling we are of one big family.and i like to call you Mom in return.(but 'd better not adopt me ) *Smile*
LOL cute !
:)
I got your seeds today bigbrother Jianhua, thanks.
Evert,my dear little brother:take care of the Snow lotus(not easy to get some for you).besides i will soon re-edit this list--adding about 20 kinds of carefully-selected
chinese medicinal herbs.all of them are got from the cultivating bases.wait and see, please.((((((((((hug))))))))))
here are the links to the chinese plants.thanks so much for MarvieRose's help.

Good morning Jianhua, I haven't checked this thread in a long time. Was nice to see Tim's picture for the first time, I love putting faces with names. (well, we almost got a picture of his face:)
I am very interested in your cassia seeds. Someone told me just the other day to drink tea from this plant. I have emphysema and was told it could help. If you still have any, what can I offer in trade?
trustinGod:
yeah, cassia tora is a noted chinese healthcare herb.we call it chinese tea pea.it is good for your eyes as well as for your heart.often drinking it will make you feel the whole body light and comfortable.and it has not any side effect.i often have it.i will keep some for you.
Jianhua
JIANHUA, I CAN'T WAIT :) THAT IS INTRESTING ABOUT THE HEALTHCARE HERB AND WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN IT COMES IN.
I can't wait either. I need to feel light and comfortable:) thank you!!
Jianhua, I need to feel light and comfortable too. I haven't felt light in more years than I care to think about. Will e-mail you about a few other things I'd like if you still have them. Pam

The cassia tora seeds have been sent to you about half a month ago.maybe you will get them soon.if not,i will save some for you again.(about 1500 seeds of this kind left)rest heart.
The background is not a redrose,it is a chinese peony(anyway you can take it as a redrose).

parent,a son and a wife.life burden is upon me,though so far so good.
Catlady aka Pamela:

Jianhua, might you have any seeds from flowers that have long stems and a long vase life? I sell cut flowers at our farmers market. I love different things (what gardener doesn't)I am in zone 9, we are sub tropical here, very humid and mild winters, sometimes we get light freezes, usually one or two per winter. thank you, Lisa
Lisa:
Bird of paradise is a not-bad cutting,i feel.
My favorite is Helichrysum bracteatum--
it can keep its color fresh for quite a long time.
How about the dwarlf sunflower?
These flower seeds can be gotten in your country.
i think there is no need for you to spend more $3 postage.
do you think so?if you really cannot get
them from home, let me know.i will do my best for you.

I love native roses, just hte natural ones, no kind of hybridizing with. For example Rosa canina.. and asian rose Rosa chinensis :)
Evert,
There are two kinds of native Chinese roses in my region.
One is Rosa chinensis var. sem-perflorens,
of which foliage are smaller than rose hybrida.
One is Rosa banksiae, whose flowers are little, white and in clusters.
Both do not like to bear seeds.
Jianhua... how are u? u always do a fantastic disappearing act on us. just like the jack in the box, out one minute, never knowing when it will pop up again.
seriously, are the Chinese roses fragrant? i do not ever recall coming in contact with any Chinese roses. since u mentioned they are smaller, would they be like the mini roses? just curious to know.
MavieRose:
Mine is not a pandora's box--there is hope, honesty and seeds in it,not to put too fine a point on it.):
Compared with the roses hybrid, the rosa chinensis var. semperflorens has the following characters:1.flowers,reddish purple and very scented 2.stems ,with smaller foliage and many pricks.
the rosa banksiae is a climber.
very interesting!!! when things settle down, i think i will look into the rosa chinensis varieties. now i am intrigue! hmmm i will keep a note of it. will keep u posted on what ever i find. thx. ;)!!!
