RainGazer missing - round robin question

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, the box is ready to go, but I had noticed that RainGazer hadn't posted in a while. Contacted admin and they said her last post was Nov. 10, so any suggestions as to where to send the box.

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

I'm sure you should just send it to me.LOL

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

works for me :-)

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

I don't know her real name.Try Dmailing Meag848 maybe??

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

I think since she's been missing so long, I'll send the box to Syurmani since she started the robin to begin with, plus her weather is looking okay.

Hey Everyone!

Wow! What to do, what to do....If I had plants right now to put back in it, I would add my name in one of their places. That wouldn't help figure out where it is going to end up though.

Everyone has been so quiet on here! Don't tell me everyone is out spending their money on Christmas presents :)

I guess if Nicole is in charge of the RR, it should be her to make the decision of what to do with the box now...if you can reach her that is.

I've been buying supplies to make some gifts. I just don't see the need to Christmas shop much now, the kids are all in their 20's and just want gift cards. Takes the fun out of it. And I've been told not to get too much for the grandson as he will be getting lots of stuff from everyone. Still fun to look around and see the store decorations.

Oh, Tish!

My Grandson is 6 and I am racking my brains on what to get him. He was 3 when our DD married his father and he has lots of grandparents now! LOL! It is so hard to find the right toys anymore. I really thought about gift cards this year for everyone else.

Connie

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

I think you're right about Nichole making the decision. I'll try dmailing her.

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

Yes, Tish...that would be the proper thing to do :)

Well, we are expecting 12 inches of that white stuff that has been going around! Anyone else expecting some? If you aren't...would you like some? I think I will have plenty to share LOL

Connie

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

It looks like I can share some too!!

Mrs Bonnie....I want pictures please.

Melanie

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

I agree with Melanie...pics please! What are quillows anyway? Don't laugh at me...no, I don't get out much LOL

Kittrell, NC(Zone 7b)

Connie....I don't either. LOL!! Mrs Bonnie....is it a quilted pillow?

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I want to know too. I've never heard of quillows. Could they be a decoration made from chicken or turkey quills?

(tish) near Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

OH! ME ME ...I Want some snow! I miss snow so much. I grew up in Maryland and we got a few snows each winter. Now in Ga we get one snow a winter, a couple inches melts the next day..better than nothing. Was excited about chance for flurries last weekend but nothing but cold.

My grandson is 8 1/2. He LOVES legos...but has so many and is getting more at Christmas, so no legos from me. I'm going to get him some pj's. Maybe I can get him some Transformer ones or something..they will get used a lot more than a toy, and I'll throw in some hot wheel cars in with them so there will be a toy factor too. When he was 6 and 7 he loved anything Sponge Bob.

I want to see a crafty picture too! I get most of my crafty gift ideas from pictures!

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

Tish, I just put a note out on the porch telling the snow to head your way...ALL OF IT!!! So it is on it's way and I hope it doesn't melt before it gets to you. Can't give you a tracking # though :)

He has enough legos and cars. I have gotten cussed for those LOL!!! Hard on the feet. I have a feeling the presents will have to do with the wii. He could always use pj's.

Okay all, here is the scoop. Bonnie has out smarted us...think about it. I now we have all heard that joke of how to keep someone in suspense............................................................................................tick tock, tick tock. Can't you see her sitting back laughing everytime we post and ask what it is. LOL!!!!!!!!

Connie

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

Connie,

LOL You sure have that right! I want to know what it is, too.

(tish) near Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

I'm waiting!!! But the weather report is a lot of rain coming..yet AGAIN! So I guess that snow has already melted. My husband is from Canada and doesn't care if he never sees snow again! I think him not wanting it is overpowering my wanting it!

I know that here in NC we have grown webbed feet!! More rain on the way!!

Hi All;
Yes i am laughing at all the post about what a quillow is, here is a picture of it folded,,looks like a pillow, when unfolded it's a quilt with a pocket for your feet, keeps them toasty warm. i make mine out of flannell.

That is so neat. What a great idea. I would like to crochet one or knit one :).

Ottawa, IL(Zone 9a)

i think that would take a real long time, as they are quite large, but i am sure you could. I also knit & crochet, but i would rather sew one. lol

Bonnie felt sorry for us and finally gave in LOL!!! Okay...it is winter and we can't send leaves right now. Arts and crafts lesson needs to start now. Doesn't the name "mrsbonnie" sound like a natural teacher? Glad you all agree :) Your students are waiting "mrsbonnie". (Connie has raised her hand waiting for mrsbonnie to call on her)

So clever, Bonnie! I can see why everyone loves and wants one!

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

OOOOH-- I have one, my mother in law made it for us several years ago, they are great to keep in the car. Mine's not flannel tho-- that would be much better-- or even better yet-- fleece---If you can't tell-- I am freezing-- got up to 18° this am with below 0° wind chill. BRrrrrrrr. I over slept so the stove was almost out and it was 50° in here--been busily poking it with wood so it is 70° now I won't stop til it's 76° ^_^

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Hmm . . . I see another Google visit in my future . . .I've got so many sewing projects for the summer . . . just need to keep piling them on!

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

I hear ya, Nichole! I have been working on knitting an afghan. I found out real quick that I could have crocheted two by now. It will be pretty if I ever get it done. It has tulips in it. What a surprise, huh?! LOL We are ready for our first class, mrsbonnie :)

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

I googled the quillow, and now have to make a trip to the fabric store! You'd think with all the fabric stashed all over this house I'd have something that would work. Somewhere is some fleece, but I sure can't find it.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I don't know how to knit, but I can crochet. Except blankets . . . about 20 rows in, they start to go crooked, no matter what I do. I make mean doilies, and doll clothing, though! (I get my sister to do a blanket or tree skirt once in a while). My newest hobby is sewing. I've made my daughter a jumper that even my husband likes. Had to use my mother's machine for that. Once it was done though, DH said I could go get one of my own. I just this morning finished piecing together all the patches for my first quilt (I mean, I have all the patches made . . . haven't sewn them together yet). And, I've finished some quilt crafts for the swap that's going on right now. Hope my swap buddy understands that I'm really new at this, so that's why my stuff is probably pretty basic. Did get her some pretty threads, though, to go with!

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

stownes, did it give the instructions and how much material? Please share the link cause the "teacher" is late for class. She is sitting at home laughing at us again. (Her little secret) LOL Guess we can make paper airplanes.

That is GREAT, Nichole! I can sew a few things but haven't sewn much. I made my father a quilt and hand quilted it. Never have done that before but I got it finished...in three years! Dad said it was too pretty to use and I got it back when he passed away. Never made another one since. He was always good at making you feel like you can do anything :) I have crocheted since before kindergarten. A lady across the street let me swing on her porch swing if I would crochet with her. She taught me so much! I even crocheted Aspen (my maltese) a sweater LOL!!! (thinking I really need to get a LIFE!!!!) LOL

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Sharon - Hope you don't mind we hijacked your thread . . . but since Amy has been accounted for, I hope it's ok?

I found an Amish community that will hand quilt it for me. I haven't asked for an estimate yet. They only charge based on the amount of thread used. Maybe on my second one I'll go to them!

I think on this first one, I will quilt one block at a time . . . that way I can do the quilting part on my sewing machine. I looked in at the quilt shop down the street, and they charge $25 rental fee for their gi-normous machine quilt, plus a $10 thread charge. Which doesn't seem too bad, except they have a wait list.

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

No problem about the hijacking - I'm loving' this thread.

Here's one location I found:

http://www.quiltbug.com/Articles/quillow.htm

There were several - I'm going to check and see if they are all made the same way

Here's another link that may answer all our questions:

Guess we did hijack it, huh? I did a simple nine block quilt (I think). It was about the time we were moving out of state and my MIL needed her quilting frame back. I had just started it and we couldn't afford crap. I took a large embroidery hoop and locked in one square at a time. Not bad on the rental, Nichole. I need to be working on a baby quillt for my new grandbaby to be. YAY!!!!!

Thanks, stownes!!!!!
