BIRDS from Kalahari visit

Port Elizabeth, South Africa(Zone 10a)

Thanks Katie, Critter, I hope you see the last two....I will do a new thread with the birds I shot in the area as well.

#12 Spotted Eagle-owl...Just amazing how they can "merge" with the surrounds, even here you get the feel. These two are also on their way soon.

#13 Tawny Eagle....If you think about drawing an eagle, this may be it, perfect EAGLE in every way, and at 70cm not too small either.

The yellow on the beak is striking as well as the feet....you will see now, now.

Oh, what beautiful feet I have!

And a final pic of this glorious bird....ready to go! This is the lot. There were more, but we could not see them, or they were shaded so much that it made shooting difficult. Also chicks, but again, no human interaction allowed.

Still, a magical time for me. Just to see them close-up, and at times their sizes does surprise you. Lovely.

The Tawny Eagle is gorgeous Little!

The Spotted Eagle Owl is another beauty! Really enjoying your thread!

Thanks Pelle, at least I could get some pics worth showing. Most pics I take should be placed under pic-failures, LOL. It is fun though. We are moving AGAIN, but this time it will be for at least 10y to Port Elizabeth. This will be a dramatic scenery change from Karoo and Kalahari to sea and coastal vegetation.

Here is an example of the town called Seaview, just 10km outside PE, where we want to buy a house.

One of the nice things is that we would be very close to Addo Elephant National Park, and various others, as well as some natural protected forests. Living in Seaview also means living 600m from the sea and I can see myself having a sun-downer, watching the little fishing boats at work.

Finally, we would be able to visit places like Nepal, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Namibia, Mossambique, etc, which means lots more birdies to see, not to mention the 400+ species that will be available in the Eastern Cape.

I have enjoyed your pictures so much. Can't wait until you get moved and settled in and you have a chance to start taking pictures again!

Thanks Pelle, Katie and Juney, I am now also going to add some other pics of the Kalahari. We are excited to move, but I will miss this part of the world very much.
