Poinsettia Patrol

I too have resisted buying even one this year....Christmas cactus was a different story.^_^
I lost two plants so far this year. It has actually been a great poinsettia year. one dried up as they didn't water it in the interim between my visits and only the top few petals were left when I got there last tuesday. Had to trash it. and down in the lobby in the planter, the paper guy took out one of the points because he put his whole delivery of the buildings newspapers plunk down on the corner edge of the planter. This unfortunately includes the plant that is planted there and we lose all kinds of plants during the year including the poinsettia. I have reported it endlessly, but apparently the paper guy cannot be trained. Sigh. I managed to get the guy dumping his blue chewing gum to stop, however.
This season has not been as cold as some in the past and many building managers are cutting back on the heat in general so the plants aren't exposed to as much dry heat as in the past which is also why I think they are lasting longer. The plant doctor is in. 5 cents please.
