Had another check, looks like it's Philodendron squamiferum.
What's my name?
Oh, I was looking and thought maybe Philodendron bipennifolium, and added another bunch of philo's to my want list, lol. Squamiferum looks better :). Well, anyway, at least now you know how to decorate your yard for Christmas. Googly eyes and pompoms, lol.
LOL, I know I'd like to have one, not sure it's in the budget right now though..LOL
me either, but at least I know what to look for when i can afford to look again.
true very very true...LOL
It's a pity we have such an impenetrable jungle of red tape between us, otherwise I could send you a cutting. I know our quarantine people go ballistic over plants. Seeds, depending on what they are, are not so bad.
I grew monstera deliciosa from seed. I was so excited about it :). Miss trina, you get the green and red flowered anthurium if the person offering it was serious. I'll try to find p. squamiferum as cheap as I can, and we can trade later. That way we don't blow money for the same plants :).
hey that works for me 3jsmom3! and Tropic I'd send you any seeds in my have list you wanted but ou get to make sure you're quarantine people will approve of them! LOL
that is very pretty! yeah and I have deal to trade her some red for her white...I will check it tomorrow to see how many divisions I can make...It's definately root bound that's for sure! But that sounds good to me
I have 2 plants waiting for spring trades. They are small divisions, but showing signs of expanding. I'll be so happy to have pink and red to go with the white :).
We're all in this together, Girlie!!! ; ) Soon we will all three have red, white and pink!!!
no watch one of us find another color we just HAVE to have...LOL
How about purple/lavender? They are available, you know! Also fluorescent orange. . .
LOL you love encouraging my madness don't you! LOL
I couldn't believe my luck at finding that one, the guy at the store kept telling me it was a Philo, I just politely smiled and said it's beautiful.
Hey LariAnn how long does it take most aroids to grow from seeds? I know passies take FOREVER
I know, and the pigtail one, too. I want an orange pigtail on a clarinervium leaf, LariAnn, can you make one?
Now I have to have the purple...purple's my favorite color!
now wait if we're gonna start asking LariAnn to specially make new ones she might get a little upset with us (well me) cause I have a very twisted imagination...LOL
Yeah, I can see a chupacabra plant with purple spathes... It would give anyone nightmares, hee hee.
Actually I read that she is working on the leaf/flower ultimate anthuriums. I am just placing an order in advance... Or having fun, but I bet it will happen someday, if not today.
well if anyone CAN figure out how to do that it's definately LariAnn! I bet even when she's sleeping her brain's still working! and even with as busy as she is, she still manages to answer my sometimes dumb questions without making me feel stupid that I asked...that's a very rare trait in people these days!
Hi girls,
Oh, no one can have an imagination more, well, complex, than mine is! For a glimpse, check the following link:
http://www.aroidia.com/aroidia1.htm
I'm not only working on blending the silverveined Anthuriums with the colored bloom types, but I'm adding perfumy fragrance as well. Patience pays; speed kills! Oh, and did I mention that I have a penchant for gigantic plants? They are in the works as well, but could be a few years off, unless I get lucky!! Can you imagine an Anthurium with 3 foot leaves and giant red blooms? I can see it in my mind already. . .
BTW, I can get an aroid to go from seed to blooming in about a year, a skill required in my line of work . . .
LariAnn
cool you're gonna have to tell me though are aroids easy from seed? I just purchased some P. selloum seeds online....this is probably the only thing I haven't tried from seed yet.
3jsmom3 and I were joking about leaves that big but blooms with all the colors! I can't wait until spring either cause I have fallen in love with you're hybrids but as we have an ice storm right now I don't dare take the risk...cause i'd cry...besides that way I can save for a little shopping at aroidia....LOL like I NEED more plants
Wow wow and double wow...LariAnn did you draw all those pictures yourself? Just awesome...gonna go read some more
WOW LariAnn,
Drawings are gorgeous!!- What EXACTLY is your line of work?
Tracey
Thanks for the compliments! Yes, I did draw all of the pictures myself, and my line of work is hybridizing new aroids (although I do also have a "day job"). So growing them quickly to blooming size is essential to my work.
Trina,
I may have missed the answer to this question elsewhere or maybe you have not been asked....but why Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO. Do you have homes in both places?
sorta...here in Canton I live with my BF and our mixed brood of 5 teenagers...the place in Missouri is mine all mine and has been for a very long time, just has a little cabin big enough for my son and I, my safety net so to speak, might add some other cabins to it this spring so I can take all the kids up out to enjoy it with me this summer...as the BF and I are just past the 1 year mark together
gotcha... a cabin sounds lovely and relaxing.
surrounded by hills, woods, and a couple of good fishing spots...LOL
