I hope that everyone is planning on enjoying the day in one way or another. We did T dinner night before last so we're free today to go to the beach, or mountains, or stay home and work on things and make enchiladas..whatever. Just the way I like it...rain would be good, but I suppose I can handle 80 degrees and sunny.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to all my CA-DG "virtual" buds!!
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving day. I would also like to be thankful for rain, but will have to settle for a beautiful sunny day!
I am so glad to have you DG guys as virtual friends (DH wonders who I am talking about, when I speak of you all as if you lived next door).
I forgot to look for new messages yesterday. Hope everyone had a good day. We sure did!
I am thankful for DH, all of my kids, and my In-laws for sending home lots of left-overs. I am also thankful that I have a non-leaking roof over my head and warmth from the wood stove. I am thankful that it rained. Mostly, I am thankful to have met so many wonderful people on DG. Lots to give thanks for!
Still have the flu, but am thankful that the worst seems to be over. (Fingers crossed!)
I am really thankful that I don't have to drive in the rain or my worst nightmare, go shopping this weekend. (She shudders at the thought!)
Walk In Beauty & With Thanks!

Glad you're feeling better!
We got some rain here, and enough wind is still blowing to knock a lot of leaves off the trees. They're so pretty lying in colorful drifts on the ground....but they'll become a slippery mess before long and will need to be picked up.
Much as I loathe shopping, my two favorite local wineries are running specials, and I'm considering going out this morning to stock up. It's a hardship, but someone's got to do it.
Tomorrow we're going to deep fry a 20 lb. turkey...says it only takes 20 minutes. We'll see. The tankard is delivering the oil in the morning.
Last time my DH tried deep-frying our turkey, he set fire to the fence and melted one of my big plastic planters. After that he stuck to BBQing the turkeys......
Well, they must be pretty quick. I saw a demo on the morning news and the restaurant/caterer? said they did about 350 turkeys that way on the day.
Fire in the pot!!!
So JasperDale, how did that turkey turn out?
ima, had to snicker, cause it sounds like something my guys would do. Hope you got all stocked up on your favorites. : - )
In-laws sent leftovers home for us because I was sick. Still am, should have stayed in bed.
Fridge broke, freezer melting. Critters are well fed, the left over turkey among other things.
I had melt down. YS cleaned out the fridge and freezer. Bless his heart.
Poor DH, he's sick and he's out shopping for new fridge. Took YS with him.
ES is out taking care of business, with the Christmas Trees.
Thank goodness that Buddy Holly is here to keep me company inside house and Peanut and Spirit are there to help me when I am outside of house. I know I'm not supposed to go outside still, but I miss my gh, and the flowers and the hummers and the light and warmth.
Back in bed now.

SW, around Thanksgiving is usually when all of our vehicles break down at once. It's happened several times over the past 30 years, so I can relate to your situation!
The fresh air will probably be good for you----just wrap up warm and don't overdo it!!
SW, what a shame all this came down on you guys at one time.
DH has been working every day since Friday on the computer system at the office. Seems everything always happens on his holidays, vacation days, or weekends. Don't know how he keeps his cool. Glad we at least had a nice Thanksgiving before this happened! Oh, and last night the power was out for about two hours due to a lightning strike.

Our fridge/freezer that is only 5 years old started to go out a little over a month ago. While we are blessed to have an extra, smaller fridge in our laundry, we have extended the usefulness of the larger fridge until we can afford to have it looked at. Remember when your phones and electronics go out and the tech/service people tell you to remove the battery or unplug the machine for a period of time? A service guy said to empty ours and unplug it overnight then plug it in again. We did that twice now and it lasted about 2 weeks each time. Don't move it ALL back to kitchen each time. On third cycle now and GE is giving us an estimate tomorrow. I pray it to be something easy (read - cheap)!
Good grief, hope it is an easy fix, quilty.
Our last one was over 20 years old and we only replaced it because of the power usage and the new one was on special. At least our electricity went down. Now if the darn thing will just pay for itself.
DH was my Hero today, and yes, I told him so. He went and bought a new one. YS was great about handling the spoiled food removal, cleaning out behind the old fridge, and helping out with getting the new one in. DH has been working even though he is sick. He is a trouper. I've been making him tea and honey (now with lemon), to drink, and soup. I've been making him take his meds for once, LOL! I feel so badly for him. You know it's bad if he gets it.
A few years back it was the open septic tank in the front yard for the Holidays. Before that, two years running we ran out of propane on Christmas Day. Boy was I upset! We had words, and it's never happened again. There is always something, and in a way it'll be a relief to get it over with early.
I did bundle up warm, and I did hang out in the gh. It was pretty nice in there this afternoon. I tried to get a hummer photo, but they were so unhappy about the feeder going dry situation, that they shunned me when I was out there. I can't get photos after about 3:30 or so of the hummers due to the sun setting behind the hill so early.
I really was having problems with computer, but being the contrary beast it is, all my Eldest son had to do (after running the store all day), was sit down next to me and it starts working right. What is it with machinery and guys. My car does the same thing with DH. Got to laugh even if it hurts.
I still want to know how JasperDale's turkey came out?
You all be well, the guys worked together and all is good here. : - )
WIB!
