3rd Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop - See what we did???
Well, here goes. I put the initial coats of stain and paint on over Thanksgiving with Stacey and then did touch ups once I was home. Saturday I glued and let them sit over night and then yesterday I put things together with scarfs and greens. I am very please with them both.
This is #3 and it will go to my daughter as a Christmas gift.
This is #5 and was for me! I haven't decided where yet but am thinking of several places. As you can see, I made a few changes. I switched the penguin and the tree since it gave me a better look at the snowman's hat and face. I forgot to put the scarf on the penguin before I glued him down so I settled for a bow tie made from fabric I had. I used some of the berries that fell off the greens for #3 as ornaments on my tree. I like the understated look it gives to the tree.
I really like the way the whole things turned out. Thanks, again, Betty for hosting and doing all the hard work for me. Having it cut out and all the things ready to work when I had time was a real god-send. Wouldn't have happened otherwise.
What about the rest of you? Show please...
Busy santa elves you are..
Janice, so glad you and Stacey enjoyed your projects...
Aw mom-they turned out really good!!!
Yours too Judy!! I will be finishing mine over the next couple days....
Looking forward to seeing these works of art..nice that I see you are being creative in your own right and adding the final touches as per your creativity....
good job judy i like that one too
Liz, you've surfaced..been missing you sweetie...
Hows, grannie, hubby and yourself? busy time for you at work I would imagine
Good Morning!
Thank you,
lol followed most of the instruction by memeory...
Liz, You have to post your creation on this thread!!
lol, a gentle and not so gentle reminder. Are you making another one?
Stacey, you cute Fairy girl, how the heck are you??? So delighted to see you post. Am glad you and Janice had a good time.
Betty, going to start the Cardinal one next, perhaps tonight!
Judy-you know how it is. My momma always told me if you don't have anything positive to say then shut it. LOL-JK, but seriously, I guess everything is as good as can be expected at the moment...
Waving Judy and Stacey, nice to see my girls...
Are both of you having storms that we're having..just closed down our highways..Greg went to get gas for the snowblower and said all the trucks are lined one after another..most snow that's fallen in 24 hrs. record here just north of us...
Keep safe, play crafts...lol
morning betty, yep granny gets to come home this evening she is doing very well and will have a 24/7 live in, relieved for now, work is good, kennys work is a mess they have two workmans comp claims against them and so bottom line is none of the guys can work for now because workmans comp wont reinstate this company, but ken is waiting to go back to work for his old boss after the holliday so its all good.
judy was thinking im going to have to go to home depot got to get my boss and district mgr one made this week so yep will be making 4 more lol
Glad all is well with you Liz..sure do miss you...you always bring a smile along with your antics..
You did great..and yes won't take you long to get 4 more done..while waiting for 1 color to dry you can just move right along..conveyer belt method lol..
Hope you show us the finished projects..
Oh Trisha, look at Sage...know the angel kit was primitive but it was in a bag just waiting for some Angel to make her...tell her she gets A+
So does grandma...your snowman is adorable..will you be hanging it, just sitting it or will DH make you a little base so he can 'free' stand...
Must put all the photo's together...
Now for your 2nd one...Sundays are usually busy for you, let's hope you can get him done before Christmas...
nice job trish, angel came out nice too.
betty, lol got the wood had to go to a lumber yard kenny and i were amaised !
we told him we wanted smooth and rough so he took us across the street to the mill area .
omg they beat that wood up on a huge band saw, we were oooing and awwing looks just like the peice you sent.
but he told us not to do it on ours unless we are planning to do this all the time it will ruin the blade. so then kenny got the scroll saw hooked up said i will love it,
good god it made so much racket and vibrated to much scared the pants right off of me i looked at him and said no problem i'll do it the hard way with a jig saw lol
No bike ride today it is 24* out! Sage does loe praise and she just beamed at your comments. She stayed over another night because we have several projects we want to finish today. W got the other Snowman finished last night. I think we will probably hang them later today.
Hope you all are having a great afternoon!
Works of art that's what they all are..
Liz, laughing at you and Kenny..you'll have a field day getting rough wood done..do try the scroll saw, so much easier than the jig saw plus you'll be able to get some sharp cuts...
Come on, be brave and try it..you truly will enjoy....
Yes, Band saw or scroll saws are fantastic....we couldn't survive without our bandsaw! Mom did woodcrafts for years and wouldn't give up that saw for anything!
OMG Stacey you have been busy, bet santa's workshop could produce better..they will be thrilled...
Perhaps next year for adults only, we'll do a name exchange as well as gifts and say it has to be made...I'm ok with it just not sure all the others would be..lol
Love the cup flower arrangements...you are creative!
thanks for sharing
Thanks Betty!!!
Fantastic Fairy!!!!! So clever and so unique. You have one great talent there.
LOL-thanks Barb (even though I know I have sub par talent at best)-appreciate the accolades;)
Stacey the accolades are well earned!!!!!
Just peeking in to see your results ladies. I'm am really impressed! Great Job and so rewarding!
Me too! They all look so great and I love what Sage has done with hers w/the glitter!
Crissy, you did great..now onwards to finish the Victorian Santa from last year..come on you can do it..lol
Hope you and Dave enjoyed the Christmas festivities...
Imagine, while all are enjoying playing with their games/toys/reading/resting, I'm putting away dozens of totes holding Christmas decorations...
Figure it's mild out, raining..once the snow is here and 4' deep I'll not get to back shed to store the totes, soooo today is the day!
I need another piece of material for the Santa, before Thanksgiving no one had any then my foot screwed up and I couldn't walk to go look for it, so oh well. I'll keep all of the mini gifts I have to go into the sack when I can walk without pain again, if I can ever walk without pain again, I'm beginning to wonder...
Yes, get it done while you can. I haven't started picking up yet. Figure I'll do that next week if Dave doesn't beat me to it. lol
Which piece do you need Crissy, perhaps I have it here???? and can ship it to you, sending out pkgs. Tuesday - 1st day post office will be open during holidays....let me know..
It's red velveteen, kind of a thick velveteen and scratchy on the inside. Just a sec, I'm going to see if I can get a few pics...
