Happy birthday to my friend Sharon. (I'm catching you all over the place, LOL.)

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Oh....well goodness....thank you! What a nice surprise!

Of course there could be other Sharons with this birthday....but for now I'll claim it.
Thanks!

Louise!!! Great hibiscus! I just came from your other house, checking for tropical blooms...only to find them here. Thank you.

Whew! This is so fun...I think I'll do it more often.

Tropical is what your looking for?? This hibiscus opened yesterday, not bad for an indoor version.

And again!!...thank you...peonies?? How pretty, love them.

Pixie, I just run south to visit Louise sometimes, trying to get warm, and take a look around, but yes, I love hibiscus..and wow, I am on an orange kick this year. So pretty. Can't believe it's inside.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh I don't blame you one bit !! I'd go if I could too! lol

Polly, I am so glad you pointed me in this direction, look what I almost missed!

Pixie, I hate to tell you, but I forgot my Amaryllis till just now. They are still in the closet...sigh. Maybe tomorrow.

Hi PV...gorgeous bloom!!! I love that color. Thank you.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

You're welcome Sharon. I knew you wouldn't want to 'stand up' your friends. It's hard to keep up with all the birthday wishes when you are such a popular gal. Maybe you better go check all the other forums on DG. LOL. I know I've been following you around happybirthdaying you here and on Facebook.

I found this before midnight........Happy birthday!

I dunno, Polly...I think everybody's just happy that I'm the one who is getting older....like Victor.

Sure is fun, though!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Venu...hey! Another lovely bloom. Thank you!
Wow, this is fun.

See what happens when you get this old....

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Well, I am Sharon. I'm headed for 60 next year, so anyone that wants a birthday before me is welcome to it.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

I just read some of the comments from your students. You must have been one heck of a teacher!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Polly, I taught for 37 years, and honestly loved every minute of it. If I could do it over again, I would. I loved those kids, and most of those messages were from kids who are now adults. It bothers me when I hear teachers complaining about kids.

Anyway, yeah, I loved teaching.
Thank you.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yes those are peonies

Hi Sharran. I'm late with birthday wishes and the closest thing tropical I have around here is in name only. Hope your special day was wonderful and full of celebration.

Great that ypur students are still in touch, Sharon. Not surprised that they love you. I look forward to a private lesson for my son one day!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Good morning, and thank you again. Great pictures!

Victor, surprisingly the largest numbers of those who posted on FB were my humanities/ancient cultures students. That was a required class when they were juniors, and they came into the class hating it. They probably left hating it too, but the moans were not quite as loud by then. But a lot were from the studio classes, that's true, so it was all fun.

I too look forward to working with your very talented little guy!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow, those ancient cultures students must be old!!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Happy birthday again, Sharon!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Older than I am!!! Oh yeah.

But then, so are you, Victor...because once you hit my calendar age, you are allowed to take away 5 years every birthday. I am down to 37 now. And holding.
You can't start the subtraction thing, yet.

A DG friend sent me this t shirt last summer. It is my favorite. It was in a child's size, and supposed to be a joke, I think. I thought you might like my shoes, too.

I hope your day is great, and your week wonderful. Early in the week I'm hopping Amtrak for a trek to Chicago for Thanksgiving with my kids and grandson. Haven't ridden a train since I was 6...this might be a little different, but still a new experience. I might wear my t shirt.

Thank you again Carrie.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great shirt! We shorties have to stick together.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

We are only as short as we think we are.
I don't know about you, but I am 10 feet tall.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Love that t-shirt, Sharon! I hope you have a great Thanksgiving visit with your kids/grands!!! I'll do my best to post some tropicals on my Adventure thread for you! Happy Train Ride!!!
Louise

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I have to find that shirt for Michele!!!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

It's a fun shirt, Allison.. who's Michele?

I have another one that says: I am much bigger than I look.

And even another: I sometimes appear smaller than I really am.

And then there's the one that says: Not Perfect. But so close it scares me.

All gifts. I have such wonderful caring friends.

I keep telling myself I am bigger than Victor.

OK....OT. .....Allison, I have never had peonies till now, and last year a friend gave me a plant. So I planted it where it gets morning sun until about 1 pm. Then shade. It grew and grew and grew, but never bloomed. Then this past summer, it did the same thing, huge bushy foliage, but no bloom. It is in a corner of a daylily bed, but not near the daylilies. I have a few roses there as well, but the peony sits apart from everything else. So what should I be doing to help it bloom? I admit I know nothing about peonies, and since it is my only one, I forget about it until I see a photo like yours and then in the middle of an off season I remember it. So, what about peonies. My zone says 6b here, but it is more 7a, we get Nashville weather actually.

Phoebesviolets, what's the beautiful bluish purple bloom? It's gorgeous.

And Louise..(venu) I don't know that lovely plant either.

Y'all can tell I only know wildflowers from the mountains, can't you? But I'm learning. Celeste's blueberries made me hungry and the flowers made me drool, but my cats are more interested in the photo Lee Anne sent.

Thanks y'all, for all the birthday wishes and the flowers and the food. It helped ease the whammy of all the years.

Hope you are having a great weekend.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Peonies don't like to be moved, they sulk for a year or 2 , then bloom. If it doesn't bloom this year, it maybe planted to deep. ^_^

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

I think Hank's heirloom peony is planted too deep. I will dig it up and replant it after its lame bloom cycle in the spring.

Sharon - I love those t-shirt sayings you have. I can relate!! Victor's a giant next to me!
