I cannot be certain, but this male spider (note the enlarged pedipalps) might be a Titiotus sp. in the family Tengellidae - see http://tinyurl.com/ygagws5 for an example. I have seen nothing to indicate that these spiders have a dangerous bite.

BTW, Washington State University has an insect/spider identification service at the Plant Diagnostic Clinic, WSU Puyallup, 7612 Pioneer Way, Puyallup, WA 98371-4998 (tel. 253-445-4582) - see http://tinyurl.com/yjxzoxe. You might try contacting them because if your spider is a Titiotus, it might be a new record.

just found out that it is a hacklemesh weaver, callobius severus. apparently the females are pretty aggressive. haven't encountered any females, but all of the males i've found just casually walk away when poked/prodded without attempting to attack.

Good catch - I really wasn't happy about my tentative i.d. for a number of reasons; particularly because of your physical location. Also, I couldn't see its abdomen clearly and the angle from which the photo was taken somewhat distorted the shape of the cephalothorax so that it didn't look like a typical Callobius to me.
