sunrise serenade

Dunmor, KY(Zone 6a)

I have a MG called Sunrise Serenade. My other 3 MG's (Knowlians black, unknown verigated & unknown blue) were all planted at the same time. For whatever reason, the other 3 has set seeds already but my Sunrise Serenade has not. It has a few big pods but they haven't turned brown yet. Is it normal for them to take this much longer to set seeds? Also, I was trying to get mine to grow up a tree but it don't seem to have any desire to do it. Someone suggested it might make a good "potted" plant for a hanging basket. Has anyone tried that yet? If so, do you trim it down to keep it a certin length or what?
One last qustion, mine seems to stay bloomed all day, even on fairly sunny days. Do they all do that or is mine just weird?

dixielol - Sunrise Serenade is an I. purpurea MG vine. Mine tend to bloom late, therefore producing ripe seeds late. Also, I believe that seed ripening is also affected by weather and sun. The warmer the weather and the more sun the vine gets, the quicker the seeds ripen. I will say that I. purpurea seeds seem to take less time to mature than I. nil seeds. Can anyone confirm this. too?

I don't think it would make a good hanging basket plant since the vines want to grow UP and can get quite large. If they were Sun Smile vines, I'd say they would be perfect for a hanging basket since those are mounding/trailing MGs. But not Sunrise Serenade. To get it to grow around a tree, you might have to put some wire fencing (livestock fencing, perhaps?) around the base of the tree for the vines to climb and twine in and out of. You can trim the vines, but not too closely to the base of the vine. This will make it a thicker vine, but it might be at the cost of blooms.

MG blooms can stay open all day if the temps are cool and they are grown in shade or partial filtered sunlight. They will also stay open most of the day if it is cloudy.
