Hi! Do you know what spider is this?My dad found it on the bottom of a plastic bottle in one nylon bag on the balcony. Can you help? Thanks.
What spider is this?
This appears to be Zoropsis spinimana (family Zoropsidae); a species common to the Mediterranean region; it appears to be expanding it range in Europe (see http://tinyurl.com/y8n7zl6) and has invaded California, at least, in the USA - see a slightly earlier post in this forum. These spiders are active hunters like wolf spiders, and often enter homes during their wanderings. As far as is known, they appear harmless to humans.
*shivers* oooohhh... I just got the willies...
Wow, how strange...an ID request from California on Thursday, another from Croatia on Friday and it turns out to be the same Mediterranean ( non-native to either area) spider that has started toroam. Thankfully it appears to be non-harmful to humans, but wonder if it will displace natives or create an all out territorial war with our wolf spiders.
