I was gardenng today and found this lovely wee spider. He/she's 1.8cm in length. Found in a dry part of the garden. Just wondering if anyone can ID him/her. Abdomen is kind of almost pyramid shape. Creamy-white in colour and was not about to move when I gently prodded him/her. Still sitting where I found him/her now an hour later (and yes, it's still alive). Thanks, Emma

CLOSED: Spider in NZ garden
I suspect that this is a crab spider (family Thomisidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/ygubgwq for a different species. They are ambush hunters that lay in wait for prey to come close enough to nab; they all are harmless to humans.
