I'm thinking this might be a left footed bug. Am I wrong?

If you mean leaf-footed bug (Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Coreidae), yes it is; in the genus Leptoglossus - see http://tinyurl.com/yfd228r for more information. Other than that, yours might be right-footed... :-)

oh! smash it. liquid castile soap and water will kill them almost instantly. i had a terrible infestation for two years and finally found the castile soap and water to be the most effective treatment.
