Anyone know what kind of lilly this is? My sister gave it to me. In
the picture it looks blue, but it's really deep purple.
Lily I.D.
It's not in the lilium group. Is there any foliage you can show? That might help identify it too. Very pretty. Any fragrance?
It looks like a delphenium
D
Definitely not delphinium. The leaves are totally wrong. I addition, delphinium have 5 petals per flower. I don have a clue what it could be. A good candidate for the Plant I D forum.
Acotinum or Lupine?
Wrong leaves for both Aconitum and Lupine.
How do you find the plant I.D area.
Here you go http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/plantid/all/ Let us know how you come out ~
Thank you Moby. Just posted the picture.
Can you send a pic of it in the pot? I have an idea...

The second picture made it clear to me that it was a tropical. So I goggled tropical plant blue flowers. Here is more:

This article also covers its care. What a lovely plant, and a great gift!

Thank you DonnaMack. Someone in the plant I.D. forum told me it
was blue ginger lily. Mine is really dark purple, but looks blue in my
picture. My sister's customer gave it to her and she gave it to me.
I guess I will have to leave it in the sunroom. Won't survive outside
here in Virginia.
You're sharp, Donna!!!
I LOVE detective work! I could get started in the right selection because Kim (Lily_Love) kindly gave me a brug and canna and started my research on tropicals. She's such a doll!
