Has anyone come across this BIG GUY? He sure does like blonde hair (or maybe my shampoo?)! Whichever... he scared the heck out of me!!!

This is Vespa crabro, a wasp in the family Vespidae known as the European hornet. Although I have seen reports claiming them to be aggressive, I've worked in close proximity to them, and have never been stung by one. See http://tinyurl.com/yje3g87 for more information.
