Dark brown FURRY caterpillar NO STRIPES???

Can someone please tell me what it may be. There are no stripes and it is fat and dark brown and a furry caterpillar. I didnt know if it was good or bad for my plants????? Please HELP!!!!!!!

You really should submit a photo if at all possible. One suspect would be a caterpillar of the Virginian tiger moth, Spilosoma virginica - see http://tinyurl.com/yhr7pqh for some images of this highly variable caterpillar.

Suunto I need a new dig camera..dropped mine. this is a furry dark brown very soft roly poly looking one that is a fast mover.

Except for being uniform in color, does it resemble the familiar 'woolly bear'? Yours does sound like it could be in the family Arctiidae.

Thanks,,I took a look at the wooly bear and it does look similar, but more lush fur and boy is it a fast mover. Dark brown almost black fur. Should I consider it friend or foe to plants in my garden. Does it turn into a moth or butterfly? I went on a few websites to id it with no success.
