I found this spider in our tent while taking it down earlier. The body's roughly 1.5 inches long, probably 2.5 inches including legs. I live in Mid-Michigan, and obviously it was caught in mid-October. It looks like it has four eyes. Anyone know what this is?
CLOSED: Michigan spider
This a nice fat female wolf spider (family Lycosidae. With the exception of one genus, they are active hunters that do not spin a capture web. They have excellent (for spiders) eyesight (her other four eyes are at the front of the cephalothorax, and cannot be seen in your image). One this size could give you a painful bite if you picked it up carelessly, but they are not at all dangerous.
