A day-flying moth basking on a leaf. Photographed at Kolkata, India in January 1986. Can anyone identify it please. Thanks.
CLOSED: Which Moth?
This is a day-flying moth in the family Arctiidae; it appears to be a handmaiden moth, Amata cyssea - see http://tinyurl.com/yjw5uhg for an image and more information. There is another species, Syntomoides imaon, that can be very similar in appearance - see http://tinyurl.com/ykfgbm3 for an image.
Thanks, suunto. I am sure it is Handmaiden Moth (Amata cyssea).
