Miami, FL
Thanks!!
What kind of spider is this? I think its a Garden Orb Weaver
As your flash wiped out virtually all detail, about all I can say is that it is an orb weaver (family Araneidae), most likely either a tropical orb weaver, Eriophora ravilla - see http://tinyurl.com/yfh5vs7 and http://tinyurl.com/yjy4dgz - or one of the several large species in the genus Araneus - see http://tinyurl.com/9l2hno for some examples. All are harmless to humans.
Does this look anything like your spider, illizit? I think the bodies are the same and I was just about to try and get an ID.
You did capture the web really well! I wasn't able to photograph the web at all...and the spider (the third one I've seen recently) was sitting way up on the tip of my okra plant that has gone crazy and is 10ft tall! lol But the same kind of web, same shape of spider.
Thought I'd see if they are the same before starting my own thread....
Allwild,
It does like slightly similar; mine has dark red stripes on his legs. The web is huge, about 7ft in diameter!!
