i'll fly away, old glory, i'll fly away...

If we really want to help support our country then we need to proceed in the manner that is customary to us. Don't be afraid to fly our airlines, or purchase a vehicle, or go to a major sporting event. Don't become a hermit or a wallflower.
If we think there will not be a "trickle down" effect, then we need to think again.

DH and I went out to breakfast yesterday and for the first time all week we had to wait for seating. People are starting to come out again and return to normal. The waitresses were so relieved that they were grinning as they rushed around again!

Eyes, I agree that we have to move on, in a sense, but our world, our lives, are forever changed. I don't know if people realize it or not, but nothing for our country will ever be the same.

My husband is a Captain in the Air Force and he was told at his staff meeting this morning that deployments are going to be commencing soon. He will come home tonight to pack his "travel bags" just in case he is one to go.

I received this as a part of a lengthy email from another retired military friend: This quote is from Dr. Tony Kern, Lt Col, USAF (Ret)- Former Director of Military History, USAF Academy.

"Eradicating the enemy will be costly and time consuming. They have already deployed their forces in as many as 20 countries, and are likely living the lives of everyday citizens. Simply put, our soldiers will be tasked with a
search and destroy mission on multiple foreign landscapes, and the public must be patient and supportive until the strategy and tactics can be worked out."

Some of the very people we are going to war against are living among us. Remember that each of the men who flew the planes on 9/11 were trained here in the US, by Americans. We can't be naive enough to think there aren't any bad guys left here. I don't mean that we need to be suspicious of ever person who looks like he/she is from the middle east. Not at all. I just want everyone to realize that this war is going to take place, at least in part, within our own borders. These people are here, in America, right now.

I know that isn't the tone you set for this thread and I'm sorry if I've said anything inappropriate. I just feel very strongly about this. Obviously, with my husband telling me a few hours ago that he needed to get things in order, I'm a little sensitive to the whole issue.

Everyone at this site is a blessing to me. I want to say that right now. I have been so touched by your generosity, your caring ways and your kindness. I appreciate having the opportunity to express myself. I can't be sharing things like this with my kiddos and we have no family here in Alabama. You guys are a part of my family now.

Thanks ever so much.

{{{{{{{Smilin}}}}}!! You are a part of our family, too. I know that part of you is very anxious right now, as is true with the families of all our enlisted men. I have a dear friend in our church who is set to go when called. This thing touches us all deeper than we care to think about sometimes. Just know that we are all here, in this place together, to love and support one another....regardless of our personal beliefs.

yes the other day i was reading the Daily Mail(not my usual paper just borrowed) and it name many muslims living here in Gt Btitain who belong to certan muslim gangster groups(yes to me they are gangsters)shouting their mouths off about the Western World, off course living off our generous social security etc, i bet their is no social security in Muslim counties, one of these muslim gangsters is wanted in the USA and it has cost us the British taxpayer over 1,000.000 pounds in legal aid to stop him being extradited to the USA for terrorism, are we crackers here in Britain, our judges do not live in the real world,we try to stop raging muslims from coming into Britain and these just go to the British courts and our government is told off-do they not understand freedom etc so they have to come in. As it says in the paper our courts would allow Hitler to goose step into Golders Green*the jewish area in London).

Just to give credit where it's due, the song 'I"ll Fly Away' was penned by Albert E. Brumley and was published in 1932. Here are all the words:

Some glad morning when this life is o'er, I'll fly away
To a home on God's celestial shore, I'll fly away

Chorus
I'll fly away, O glory, I'll fly away
When I die hallelujah, by and by, I'll fly away.

When the shadows of this life have gone, I'll fly away
Like a bird from prison bars has flown, I'll fly away...

Just a few more weary days and then, I'll fly away
To a land where joys shall never end, I'll fly away...

Mr. Brumley was a prolific songwrite, penning 800 some songs in his lifetime. In 1976, this song was awarded a trophy as the most recorded gospel song in history.

Several artists have mistakenly assumed the song is public domain because of its age, but it's not. Portions of it have been incorporated into modern songs and its recent resurgence in popularity is probably due to its inclusion on the soundtrack to 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou?'

I feel a little like Paul Harvey when he says "And now you know...the rest of the story."

(Smilin)I won't pretend to understand how you feel or what you are going through inside but you will be in my thoughts and a special prayer will go up for your husband.

Go-Vols Harvery huh? Thanks for the words to that great old song. I am sitting here singing it now. Now that is really the way to fly! Good thing there is no one around or they would think I had finally gone over the edge!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

No edge Elena, on the right path. Hopefully, we'll all fly away when
it's time.

I haven't heard that song for many many years and had almost forgotten it. Thanks for the words, Doris
