Hibiscus For Today

Sorry Olja. I wrote a mouthful up there. I'll try to be more clear.

I don't know about the worm thing also. I used to add worm castings to the potting mix I pit together for hibiscus. It became a bit too expensive, so I stopped doing it.

Hey Dee, I guess I added a worm thinking they were good for plants in pots. Not knowing any better. Thinking they would improve the soil. Any of the above. One thing I read is they cause tunnels & water drains right through. Have put worms in pots forever but now I think I will just put them in compost. The worms did not survive if you had 50% perlite & I doubt anyone uses that much unless they are rooting cuttings. Will have to say since I've done this for years & that my old GV that I cut back this year have worms in them & have lived through my mistakes. They've got to be tough cause I've done a lot to mistreat them. :-) Used the wrong fertilizer, put big saucers under them & let water stand in them, etc., etc., etc. Can't remember a single Hib dying except for one I got off the hospital racks at Lowe's this summer. Really looked pitiful & died a day or two after I got it home. Maybe a garden angel has been sitting on my shoulder. Ya think???
