Oh boy! You guys made me be aware of Baker's garden in Ohio, a mere 7.5 hr drive from St. Louis rather than the 3 day drive I was planning to do for the ABS convention in SF in august... Watch out, here I come.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

LOL, Now that they are all safely inside, the trick is going to be keeping them healthy all winter!

How's this for a Begonia? It is about 3' tall and 4 to 5' wide. The owner of the greenhouse gave me two babies from it as he had none potted up for sale.

Yep, that's pretty big. Looks like time for a little division there.

Makes one of my pots look puny.

hcmcdole, That colossus would make anyone's begonia look puny. He had 7' tall cane begonias. I didn't know they could get that tall.

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

I've heard canes getting taller than that but why would anyone want a cane taller than yourself anyway.

Beats me, guess some folks do. Your garden is so beautiful. Not a Begonia, but another magnificent plant he had.

Yes, that is a unique Adenium. I like the exposed roots.

Butch, very nice. Where was that photo taken?

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

Chinese Museum, Pattaya, Thailand - July '06.

Here is one of the views on the roof of the museum (2 or 3 floors).

Thanks, Butch. I was going to say that it looked like one of the Temples I visited along the Yangtze River. One that is being flooded by the dam.

Loved your threads Stormy-- I have the fever too--(counting over 100+ diff. varieties) maybe we can work up a swap next spring. ^_^

I didn't see a lot of begonias while I was there but they grew some spectacular ones.

I really liked this one I saw at Nong Nooch Garden in Pattaya.

Wow, That one is exceptional. I found the bonzai gardens to be particularly beautiful, especially the one in Nanking.

Tommie, Thank you, yes we can. You'll just have to help me with how to wrap them for shipping.

Folks, I took my guests over to that greenhouse today for a nice visit. Look what I found there. This one was about 4' around.

Why don't online stores have after Thanksgiving sales for begonias?

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

What is the name of this begonia? It reminds me of Othello or Little Night Music.

The bloom in the picture looks out of place. If all begonias bloomed like this, then there is no telling how many new begoniacs there would be.

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

that kinda looks like a bouganvillia coming over the top.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Gran, yes it is a Bouganvillia bloom hanging from a neighboring plant.

Butch, LOL you are probably right!! I have no idea what it is. Most of the large plants at this place are unlabeled.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

I have never seen a Begonia sale.

Saint Louis, MO

logee's is having a cyber monday sale today only .Everything is 20% off...

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks!

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

I was thinking either bougainvillea or geranium on the bloom.

Thanks for the heads up truongr. I may have to go Xmas shopping.

This is another great place to visit if you are ever in Miami - PHOE.

Butch, What's that neat looking little ground cover in the background of your photo?

What did you say this is called? Is it not a form of Rex?

It is a cane/shrub. It is B. brevirimosa (possibly subsp. exotica). You will see pictures that have them both as separate species but they look so much alike that Mark Tebbitt classifies them as the same (hence the subspecies?)

I think it comes from New Guinea or Malaysia. This is one cane/shrub you can actually start a new plant from a piece of leaf cutting. Bill Claybaugh had several started from leaf when Houston had the convention last year. (Yeah, I bought another one and lost it so now I have another one that I got in FL).

Here is one at the Huntington (or was it Descano?) from the LA convention.

It looks really pretty in that setting. Such a handsome plant. What is your groundcover?

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

I think it is Pellonia daveauana (common name = watermelon begonia but not really a begonia).
