WOW!!! Loon that is one pretty egg! I thought at first that you might have a Maran Egg. It is so dark.
Beclu, you sound just like me! When I get home from work ,The first thing I do is run out to the Chicken House and check on the nests! I have Seven Hens and "Jimmy". Oh and yes he knows his name and is a pe(s)t. I cant do anything in my yard when hes free ranging ,cause hes all up under me!!!
All my girls are pets too but one in particular, that is Prissy. Shes the most independant Buff I have ever met! She never stays with her sisters when "Ranging" and never ever goes into the chicken House first, always always last! I have a funny feeling that she will also choose to lay her eggs in a hidden nest while out side ,rather than in a hen house nest like the others, so I will have to keep an eye on her!
Do any of you have a more independant Hen? Do you have one in particular that just seems to know what your thinking and loves to make you beg her to be where she is supposed to be and not where she wants to be?? LOL!!
