CLOSED: Dragon Fly like Insect
This is a crane fly (Diptera: Tipulidae). this is a very large family with thousands of species - see http://tinyurl.com/ybvgaqh for some examples from Britain. The larvae of most species are scavengers on decomposing organic matter in moist/wet environments; a few in the genus Tipula feed on roots of grasses and may become turf pests.
