Some of my Bonsai in training!

Federal Way, WA

I fell in love with Bonsai years ago, and I've read and read all I can and decided if I am going to learn it then I better get some trees. Since we were moving many of my conifers were going to be torn down in order to tear the old trailer down and put a new one in. Many of them were young but old enough to have a nice trunk circumference and Nebari on them, so I made a lot of trunk chops on a lot of trees. Boy that was hard, but now I have many different tree's. Several Western Hemlock, Japanese maples, some Azalea's. I have yet to put any in Bonsai pots, but some will be ready this spring. I've only killed on so far, a cute little mame spruce who didn't take kindly to have it's roots trimmed, I think it was too late in the summer. Here is one of them, an Thuja plicta, a Western Yellow Cedar. It has just gotten a huge prunning.

How tall is it?? Nice plant.

It's about 12 inches. Next spring it'll get some root pruned and put into a smaller pot. It'll take a couple springs of root pruning before it gets a Bonsai pot.

Meanwhile here is one of my W. Hemlock's, it's also time for root pruning, but for now I'll prune off this new growth, which btw came out in mid-late summer, very strange.

I like the single one better. too much action going on in the other one.
I have a mimosa plant that I am going to be working with. Tried a dogwood, don't know about it yet.
Rose of sharon, Elm trees, JM, I'm not terribly good, I just like to work with them.
I like to prune them. I GOT TO CHANGE POTS ON SOME OF MINE.
hit the wrong key. They are fun to work with, aren't they? What else you got besides hemlockss.
Would you like to try a mimosa tree?
