Hi,
Wow, you found some great plants.Gooseberries is beautiful!
You can also propagate a sinningia leaf by cutting out the vein, like a strep leaf.I've had good luck doing this with mini's and the large speciosa leaves.Excuse my mess on the work table ^_^
BAVC Sale- I got some nice ones!!!
Thanks, Jan. I didn't take the mid vein out of mine. Will do it when I have some more leaves from David.......thanks so much for the idea!!! I only used the petiole.
Wow, you guys leaves look so big. I need to take another pic of my whole plant so you can tell me if the leaves are big enough to put down.
Gro Happy..........they weren't big when I planted them. They have grown 3 times in size.........
Maybe ( I am not the sinningia expert....lol) I would just let it settle in for awhile, get used to your house and when it is bigger , attempt something fun with it.
a sinn leaf will root and make a tuber, but sometimes they wont resprout, bonnie can say more as shes the sinn expert think they are called blind tubers,
JIM
And.........I don't know which ones do and which ones don't. David Thompson told me I would get tubers that would bloom with the ones i got????????
Connie, I was the one looking for Artic Frost!!
Gail yours might all make tubers and grow new plants or ..... its just a luck thing,
JIM
and maybe florist glox are easier to start that way,but i can say with sinningia its very try,i tried leaves with orange zinger
never did get a babie but lots of tubers, maybe i didnt wait long enough
JIM
Thank you Melanie for answering my post :)
Jim, I did it with a lot of my smaller sinningias and they bloomed again........and formed tubers......I don't understand the two words 'determinate' and 'indeterminate'.
hey isnt artic frost a wasp?
Arctic Frost (S. Sorano) Semidouble white large star/variable blue-marked eye, edge. Medium green. Standard

You got some great beauties!
No new plants till Spring- whyever not, lol!!! Let's see about that one;)
;)
LOL
:)
Smirking ^_^.
growhappy;
you have a couple of plants in the pot of your sinningia, look inside the pot & you will see 2 different stems with leaves, all you have to do is cut the smallest one out & pot it up with a dome , it will get it's own tuber in a couple weeks. Also, when you put down a leaf & this alpplies to all sinns except the micro's you can get a blind tuber, which means it will never bloom, but thats not all the time, so it is worth a try.It just takes awhile to get the tuber.cuttings are much faster.

:)
thank you Bonnie, very helpful. I'm going at it this evening when I get home from work!
Shanika, I don't know how I missed this thread!!! How gorgeous is all that stuff??!! I love Sinn 'Georgia Sunset' the best, followed by AV 'Rob's Gooseberries' and of course 'Harmony's Little Stinker'! You hit the jackpot.
Once you learn how to propage Sinns, I would love a start of GS. I've got some Sinns I could share with you, too, if you decide you want to get into them. Sinns are my favorites, after Petrocosmeas. I kinda think of it as Pets being my fave foliage-wise, because they don't bloom all the time, and Sinns are my favorite for the flowers. ^_^
See bonnie knows about sinningias, smart lady,
and shes freinds with me soo that makes her extra smart lol.ok im goofy from the cough syrup codine and phenagren
Goodness, Jim! That's a powerful combination! Are you alright?
i will be
Jim, I hope you get to feeling better!
Amy, you are welcome to GS! I think I've opened a can of worms with these Sinns. Great. another new addiction. Just what I needed.;)
I can SO help you with the Sinningia addiction!! LOL
Get well, Jim!
I'm sticking to av's and streps- learning to raise them right- before I venture into other gessies... do hold me to that!
Get well soon Jim !! ^_^

After I get rid (hopefully) at the church bazaar in December, I can get back into growing sinningias....they are such a neat plant.
