Rob's Outer Orbit was not really part of the robin, though. I had set that aside for Jannich a while ago - was just waiting for it to get a bit bigger. Since she was going to be after me in the robin, I figured - why not put it in the box! ^_^
Anna - take what you like, put in what you can. Every one of us was new at some point, so we understand that you won't have as much to put back in.

Fall 2009 AV&G Round Robin - The Journey Begins!!!
Jan!! Fun fun fun. You now have Comet.............grow it well so I can ask you for a leaf (LOL)..........hope the plantlets and the chimera crown make it...........
You picked some beauties!!!
Thank you Miss Nicole ^_^
Anna,If I can nurse the av back I sure will share leaves with you.Right now it's in the ICU unit.
Gail now you know how strep leaves and me get along.Cross your fingers.it roots LOL.
Can someone tell me if I should put the strep leaves in the frig for the night???? There in good shape,I just had to cut alittle rot off a few. There going to be in the box till Tuesday??????????
Hi ,
Jim and Gail keeps strep leaves in the fridge for several days and I have done that too , I let them sit in water and superthrive ( A couple of drops ) for a few hours and then bag them back up ( shake the water off but don't dry ) and put them in the fridge , they should be fine .
speaking of this I was wondering if any of you strep experts have ever used the new plastic bags that are supposed to keep vegies and greens fresher for longer , I had a coupon for Hefty ones and so bought some but haven't tried them yet but i would think they would be really good keeping the strep leaves even better in the fridge longer , if anyone has used them for this please let us know and when I have tried mine I will certainly post my results ...................the name of my hefty ones are .........Hefty one zip Fresh Extend ..........green box :)
Connie :) Have fun Jan ...............you have mail :)
the Hefty Fresh Extend bags might make the leaves sent in the next RR keep better and longer so less will be icky and have to be thrown away .................just a thought :) and thinking is good as long as you think god thoughts :)
Hugs ,
Connie :)
I think with the number of strep leaves in the box, putting them in the fridge would be easier and much less time consuming than putting them in water (although that is a good idea!). Just make sure you separate the AV and other leaves out - they don't seem to care for cold!
Hi Connie.I'm off to read your d-mail!
edited for a mistake ^_^

Jan.....it is critical that you first rehydrate them in water overnight..........make sure the leaf is standing upright if it is a very good zip lock bag (should be). Put about a 1/2" of water in the zip lock. Then, in the morning, pour the water out completely but don't dry the leaf..........then put in fridge all day long...........and stick them tomorrow night.........you can trim on the sides and take a new cut at the bottom before you add the water tonight.
Don't worry about the plantlets......if they live, you deserve them!!!!
Glad Viostrep posted.......
I forgot to mention that people need badly to rehydrate any leaves they don't take before sending the box on off. Viostrep (Connie) saved the box this last time for me by doing that when she got the box and didn't take those particular leaves..........
We can't just take out what we want without rehydrating plantlets and leaves..........or we are going to end up with mush.....everyone.........
Jan , you can dry the strep leaves off when you are going to put them in the box again , I just meant don't dry them off before you put them in the fridge for the night , the bags should be dry when you ship , you are right about that I am sorry if I wasn't clear earlier , I just meant when they are in the fridge they should be a little wet , it keeps them crisp :) sorry hun if I made you crazy with incomplete info :) I too think you should just keep the chimera plantlets so they have a chance , and it will give you yet another thing to make you crazy taking care of :) LOL life is so like that :) but please enjoy the crazy :)
Hugs :)
Connie
Thanks so much, Connie.........I forgot to say to dry them when they go back in the box..........thanks!
gail
Help,SOS.Help.LOL. ^_^ I guess I didn't explain the right way.
I'm mailing the box back out tommorow. The av plantlets I don't want them but I don't want them to get to the next person totally rottted. I might be able to save them as they are right now.
I the AV leaves thats going back in the box I gave a fresh cut and there soaking in a little water now.
The strep leaves thats going back in the box tomorrow?
The streps are in good shape like I said.I gave them a fresh cut too and have them in alittle water now. Will that be ok or do I have to wait a day and soak them in water, then put them in the frig?Seems to me if I soak them in water then put them back in the box it will cause more rot.Or should I go for it and just mail them.
It's going to b a long night.lol
Hun don't worry , if the strep leaves look good just put them in the fridge for the night and then pack them back in the box to ship tomorrow , if they look good now then they will be fine with just an overnight in the fridge as they are , I just meant if you soak them before you put them in the fridge then dry them off fairly well before you pack them up for shipping in case they should get warm on the way but please don't worry yourself sick , it isn't worth that , you have good sense and instincts about plants , you are there we are just giving general info to help , you know what to do , smile Jan and don't worry and for petes sake don't lose sleep over this .................my son is Peter and he wouldn't want you to worry either :)
Hugs and sleep well Jan :)
Connie :)
Hey Nicole we need a came from here thread , this one is getting so long I forget what I am going to say by the time I get to the end of it .....................or maybe it is just memory loss in general LOL:)
I wish you all sweet dreams and a gorgeous day to come :)
Hugs :)
Connie
Holy Cow, this box is really flyin already!!!!
Laura H
(crazy is good!)
I will start a new thread in the morning . . . want to take a nice picture for it . . .
Has anyone heard - or seen anything posted by - Sonoita in the past few days?
I haven't seen her since she signed up.........
On my way to the PO with the box. It's off again ^_^
Hope she's ok . . .
Oh, yeah! The box is on its way to me! So excited!
Thanks for sharing the info about rehyrating leaves and such. Since I'm a newbie, I needed to know that information. Will let you know when I get it and will have it on its way as soon as possible. love, julie
Morning! Everything looked good when I put the stuff back in the box yesterday morning, inculing the AV plantlets ^_^
Here's the tracking number for you froggies girl
#03091140000072525861
Thanks for the fun!!!!
I just thought of maybe we should have shared phone numbers just in case. It's probably too late though but since no one has seen or heard from Sonoita I'd hate for the box to sit there and have everything die in it. She could be out of town or have an emergency or something and not be thinking of us because of other things. I didn't mean I expected her too just that sometimes we cannot think of everyone and everything.
That has already been addressed. ^_^
OK. I don't remember sharing mine is the only reason I mentioned it. I didn't mean to imply that you weren't on top of things or didn't think about all the potential issues - I am sure you have put in an incredible amount of time and effort and have thought of much more than I would.
YOu are funny, anna............I think like you do............Nichole ignores me (laughing out loud)........even though we are good friends............I always have an opinion!
It's good if people bring up their questions . . . I (ha!) may have overlooked a point, or I can file it away for next time . . .
no not you?LOL
just kidding syrumani
(so, you caught the ha! part?)
Oh, I'm sure I'll forget something (aside from where I put my keys or glasses) at some point in the future!
^_^
I was so hoping to get the box Saturday, but I guess I just hoped too hard! Does the mail run tomorrow- Columbus Day? I hate that it's called Columbus day. Being a descendant of a Native American, it should be called Native American Day. Why does Columbus get the credit when my ancestors were already here and thriving until he came along? Oops, time to get off my soap box. I'll definitely be back here as soon as I get the box because I know I'll have questions about things since it's been 4 days since the box was mailed. Getting so excited! love, julie
Just checked and sure enough- USPS does not deliver on Columbus Day! That means I have to wait until Tuesday! Now I'm whining. Can't check tracking either because the "system is temporarily unavailable." Boo-hoo!
love, julie
Where is everybody?? Julie, did you get your box?
Last update at the post office is 'out for delivery'. Maybe she is busy going thru the box?
Also, there has been no sign of Sonoita, so she will need to be crossed off the list. So, the box goes to viostrep next!
I got the box but my computer is fixing to die! I will post tomorrow what I got and it will be mailed in the morning! Love it all! julie
Noooo,i am so curious lol
enjoy
JIM
Mailed out this morning to viostrep DC# 04805301512006048870
Will post tonight all the great things I got.
Thanks, jannich, for the special lavender AV with green edges! love, julie
^_^
I want to know what you got! I can't believe you are making us wait, LOL!
Pat
This is just so exciting to think it will be here sometime early next week I am guessing. I hope I remember to do everything right and can't wait to see what is in this huge box. I am going to review all those sites that explain how to pack and maybe practice so it seems easy when the box gets here.
I usually get home around 2 or 3 PM each day and could potentially get the box out the same day because the PO doesn't close until 7 PM. Should I do that or should I keep the plants and leaves and things and water them overnight and send it the next day?
I think Julie is a teacher, so she will post after school , I'm sure. I'm anxious to see what she got. Lou
This is so cool.... Can't wait....
Hugs,
Susan
